I was born in the pre-fluoride generation so I've had a lot of cavities. I see the dentist 3 times a year.

Nearsighted and have dry eyes. See the opthalmologist once a year.

Merry-go-round of doctors (everyone has to have a hobby).

Hey, I could have written that, word for word.

I should get my eyes checked every couple of years. I can tell my vision isn't anywhere what it used to be (which was 20-15 when I was younger).
I can tell my eyes aren't the same either but I don't actually have any problems with them.

Maybe if a person keeps passing the vision portion of her drivers license renewal process, she's good?

Even if someone isn't having issues with their vision or pain in their teeth, it doesn't mean everything is fine. Preventive measures are important. Gum disease is linked to heart disease. Glaucoma can go unrecognized for a long time. Just these 2 things can be doing damage that could have been prevented.
I don't view these checkups any differently than a regular physical, a pap, a mammogram, basic bloodwork.
The one thing most people really do tend to ignore is our hearing. I am lax in that myself. And I should know better since severe hearing loss runs in my family.

Ok, you've inspired me to get a vision checkup! My insurance covers it, so it's just being lazy and not wanting to take the time.

Now to figure out what doctors are on the weird vision plan....

I just made an appointment I saw this doctor last in 2007 - the last time my eyes were checked. I think it's time.

Optometrist, no. Only when I think I need to. Dentist, about once every other year. I have deep grooves in my teeth and my teeth are fairly widely spaced apart. Food gets in there pretty easily and I'm cavity prone. So I should go more often, but I forget to.

Dentist every 6 months. Optometrist once a year although they said I could do it every two, but with a medication I take and family history of macular degeneration, I prefer once a year. I'm on the verge of needing glasses full time...sigh

Dentis 2xs per year. I work in a dental office, so sometimes more often for cleanings.

Optometrist...It's been a very long time. No insurance.
