Now what exactly is it that makes the woods different and ew? I can never understand it when people say that. Woods are majestic. They are full of beautiful sights and sounds, and covered by a blanket of stars. It's a little slice of heaven. So what if it has bugs. Bugs are in cities too.

Woods, beach, whatever... It's nature. They all have creepy crawlies, things in the water, AND many wonderful sights and activities to enjoy.

Every house or apt has a bug or two (spiders, flies, beetles, silverfish, etc.) hiding in a corner somewhere. It's hardly avoidable, Josephine.

I do hope you relax, have fun, and enjoy your camping trip.

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I'd take the woods over the beach any day. Sand in everything and no shade, ugh.

I've always lived near the beach and would feel weird being too far away from the coast but I'm not a beach person at all, apart from walks with dogs which I do regularly, preferably when it's not too warm.

You guys are crazy, I love the beach! Just booked a last min ticket to go to miami tomorrow to watch game 7. SOOO excited. Going to the beach Friday.

Camping will probably happen sometime this summer, we will see. I forgot about the heat and humidity, especially now that it's getting warmer. My bf wants to go camping when his kids are up here. I'll post pix if it really does happen. :/
I got a 4 person tent for Christmas and we are planning to go up North to get out of the heat. I love camping. I don't like the hard ground, but we have a blow up mattress that will help. I haven't done the beach camping since I was 18. I was in Corpus Christie and the wind would get so bad at night. Sand was in everything. It was nice waking up near the water and going out on the rocks to fish.

The fresh seafood is awesome when you camp at the beach. Once I bought a fresh little octopus from a spaceman coming out of the ocean and I made a cocktail. It was so so so good! And the pescadillas in Maruata. I've never had them anywhere else. The local kids come down from the homes with the big pots of them and sell them to the beach campers. I try to get some every day. More than worth what they charge. So stinking good. ... and who knows when I will be able to get down to that beach again. Boo.

I don't know that I can say that either beach or woods camping is better than the other. There are good and bad with both, and both are worth the bads.

Mmmm.... now I want pescadillas and an octopus cocktail.

I am not a camper. Personally prefer a hotel room with running water, electricity, AC, and a comfortable bed!!! Of course, to me it doesn't matter if this is at the beach or in the woods

Okay so we got a tent! But..it may be raining really badly the night we want to camp so we might not be able to .

Basically we are driving to panama city beach tomorrow after work and staying on the beach Thurs - Sun. We were planning on getting cheap hotel for tomorrow night a little outside pcb but then when we were looking at the park we wanted to go to we noticed they have camping, and of course the park is on the beach! They were sold out of campsites so we found one about an hour away that we are going to.

I really hope the rain isn't horrible .

This is where we are going -

Welcome to Florida State Parks
Josephine, that is beautiful. I'm really envying you. I hope it doesn't rain. I want your experience to be memorable, in a good way.

Well, we got really lucky. It stopped raining when we got there and started right when we finished and then started pouring after we settled in the tent. It was nice though. I love the sound of rain and we had a couple of bottles of wine. When it stopped raining you could hear the ocean, we were about half a mile or more away from it within the park.

The tent did get a little wet in the morning but we packed up after getting up. It was definitely not a full camping experience. Just putting a tent up and a place to sleep before checking into our hotel the next day.

We explored the park and went to the beach for a little before heading out.

I would definitely do it again but I would need those air pads or mattresses because my body was killing me that morning. And I was hungover. Not a good combo :/.

I'm glad that the water worked in your favor!

Looks and sounds like you had a great time! I can't wait for pictures of the NEXT camping trip!

Thanks for the update and pics. Beautiful. The rain and the wine sound like my kind of camping.

I am glad you had a good time, Josephine! Hopefully you will get the full camping experience soon, and I don't blame you when it comes to an air mattress. They do help reduce body aches. Sometimes sleeping on the ground is just what you need, others... not so much

Glad you enjoyed it, even in the rain! Definitely better with the mattresses - I wouldn't contemplate going camping without them.

Glad you had fun!!!!

I've never camped before, but we just booked a site here for 3 days next week.

Any advice you can offer would be great! Set for sleeping, worried about meals though and keeping everything cold?? Easy ideas for dinners?
