I used to have fountain pens as a kid. I stopped buying them/using them because the stationary store is buy the ink at went out of business. I haven't gotten once since. Now I want one!

And I know where you are coming from Ninja, it is VITAL to have backups! And some things require back ups of back ups.

Oh, happiness, I have lots of fountain pens to research! Maybe I will make a spin-off thread to ask (annoy) y'all with lots of questions in a bit.
I can talk about pens and ink as much as hair!

Listen, cp, it's a business thing for me. I spend my whole day either writing, typing (yes, I have a special keyboard), or walking dogs, and so I have good pens, good keyboards, and a great leash.

As for pen and ink talk, I really like J. Herbin bottled inks. As for cartridge ink, I have to get it special for Pelikan.

I'm currently in talks with a vintage pen dealer in CA about changing my Waterman nib.

And, OMG — I am about to go look up Swingline staplers. YAY!

^^^ I love that!

C19, I just like to tease you guys. I enjoy tweaking you. It makes me giggle. Not to be taken seriously - ever.

(I only tease people I like!)

Go ahead, indulge your passions for office supplies. (rolls eyes and shakes head).

What are you talking about in here?

I also love office supplies, when I have a need for them. There is not a great deal of paper work on my job. We frequently enter things/items/people into data bases, double check, print, document and staple. Nothing is more infuriating than a bum stapler, and we have 3 of them. All prehistoric Swingline's.

The most important thing, for me, is paper. I love legal pads, but they cut them from our budget. I always felt a little more organized when writing down info on a legal pad, as opposed to the back side of scratch paper. Even if it was an insane scribble.

Oh, cp, I was just teasing you back and making fun of myself. It's a little bit embarrassing to realize how excited I feel when I know I've got a new box of ink on the way. And now I'm having stapler anxiety.........vintage or new?

chupie, how on earth did you get a dip-dye pen with matching ink? Amazing! And who are the people on your other fountain pens?

New entries in the DSM:

OSLD - Office Supplies Lust Disorder

STAVOD - Stapler Anxiety Vintage or New? Disorder

There is an urgent need for better understanding of these complex and fascinating disorders which may start at any age and be thrillingly disabling. No treatment has yet been identified for this population.

This is hilarious! Curlypearl, you are too cute!

My husband is the pen coveter in our home. He's been retired for ~12 years but still hoards the very pens he wrote tickets with for many decades on his job (law enforcement). He even has pens that his dad used on HIS job... probably half a century ago.

My guilty pleasure is plants. Flowers, herbs, shrubs, veggies, fruits, vines... anything green. Cannot have enough. Especially if they are free . I'll beg, borrow or steal seeds, bulbs, cuttings to root....

Sent from my cell .

Well, you have spoke of your love of office supplies, but what of desk organizers? It's not enough to have all the beautiful things if you have no worthy place to put them!

I never meant to become obsessed with organizers. It's just I can't find one that works for me and looks nice. I have accumulated good art supply collection, but I have struggled to find a way to organize them. I got some stuff that's ok, but it's not perfect and I don't like the way it looks.

I went with a line green Swingline (new). It has its own slot for staple storage.

The slot got me.

seeing ninja's post about leashes reminds me of something....

last night i went out on the front stoop to watch the lightning and a young man was out walking his chocolate lab and the doggie had a beautiful light-up blue LED leash!!!

(if i make it to LA for "that show", i will have to bring one to our minxy as a gift for my granddog Bella Pupparella!)

Cympreni, have you checked out Martha Stewart and The Container Store for desk organizers?

Bad Curlypearl - you are becoming an enabler!

Cympreni - for really high end pretty organizing stuff try:

Il Papiro - Upper East Side - New York, NY

Sorry - I always forget how to do a link, but if you google that you will see really unusual organizing stuff in their catalog.

Have fun
