Default How does my avatar look?

I'm not fishing for compliments really, just feedback. It's different for me. I'm looking for a broader perspective.

I voted other just because I recognize that it's well done, but it simply isn't my taste. I am personally not to keen on heavy eye make up. But that would depend on context. Where would you wear that kind of make up? It's very dramatic, maybe costume-y (like an Egyptian queen, for instance).

Maybe it's because I'm on my phone but I think this looks less dramatic than some of the other eyes I've seen posted. I love them all and am in awe of the skill set required.

This particular eye looks really toned down and everyday compared to the others. I know women who could pull this off at work.

I like it.

I love it. Kind of Cleopatra-ish but not overly done.

Since we are on the subject, TNB, do you think, in your experience, some people simply shouldn't wear dark or heavy eye make up? It suits you so well, but I always feel I look like I got punched in the face when I try doing even a simple smokey eye with dark eye shadow. So instead I look for bright to medium colors, preferably in warm shades.

I don't if it's my eye shape, my dark circles or my big, bushy black eyebrows, but I feel I need to brighten the area.

It's a great look for make up, like to be worn on your face. Is that what you meant? Or do you really mean as an avatar, like an image that represents your online persona? If the latter, then I would want to see a pic of really over the top tranny eyemake up. Not saying you look like a tranny! LOL Just would want to see something exaggerated to represent how much you are into make up.

I had that issue as well. My friend helped me and realized that I was

1) not using enough colors. I guess I thought the colors would blend, not realizing that what I was seeing on others wasn't blending of one color but of multiple colors

2) I was using too much a dark color. That was partly because

3) I was using too big of a brush

I found a woman on Youtube that is about my color. That has also helped

------

As for the orginal question, I just think it's ok. It looks like you are surprised, I see how open your eyes are before I see the makeup. HTH

Great question! And no, not at all. At least not in the vaaaaaaast majority of cases. Usually the issue is not enough blending. As Scrills said, you can blend multiple colors. Multiple shades/tones of the same color work well to give a gradient effect.

For example, if you want to do a black smokey eye, a great trick is to apply translucent face powder in your crease (after your primer, if you use it) then apply the black. The face powder acts as a base so that the black doesn't grab onto your skin too much but instead blends out easily. Next apply a light grey color between the black and face powder to soften out the transition even more. I should do a YT vid on it...

It was inspired by Barbara Eden's makeup in I Dream of Jeannie. But I think I could wear it to work.

Interesting... I think the surprised look is due to the bottom eyeliner placement and the fact that I used flesh-toned eyeliner in the waterline. I don't think I was holding my eyes particularly open.

is your eyebrow a lighter color than normal?
I keep thinking that is the case

yes, I think you should do a you tube video of blending colors!! because while I hear you say it and think I understand it, the actual doing it is where it gets lost in translation for me.

I am on the app so I had to take a screen shot and blow it up so I could really see it. With that said, I love it! I really like the winged top and bottom liner when it is not connected. I also like it when it is, but this is a really nice look. Is that a gray shadow on the lid?

Or a more grayish taupe perhaps? That part is a little too blurry for me to tell when I zoom. Beautiful combo, though.

I'm no expert, but I think the quality of brushes you're using makes a big difference.

Not really, I usually bleach my brows to blond. They're naturally black.

I think the way you did the liner under your eyes make them look larger. I want to try that. Maybe a little more subtle so I can wear it during the day. I'm having a hard time finding a brown eyeshadow right now. I purchase thru drugstores, because I'm rarely in malls. (hate them) I had a good one, but I ran out and I can't find it anymore. Probably discontinued. I've tried 3 others and they aren't right. It's like they look the right shade of brown until I put them on. They then have a metallic/grayish look. That really brings out the crinkles in my upper lids.
