So on top of everything else, I've decided to put in my two weeks notice tomorrow. This is the very first time I've ever had to do this as this is my first job so I have no idea on how to do it. I work at an in home daycare so I'm not sure on the technicalities that go along with putting in a two weeks. Can anyone help? Please and thank you!

Just an fyi, there is absolutely no reason to go into detail about why you are quitting.

If you are on good terms w/ the owner/manager, I would verbally tell them of my decision to leave and verbally thank him/her before handing the person a letter. Otherwise, it seems a bit cold.

Alright, since I used to go to her daycare when I was little myself and we've been on amazing terms, she's like a second mom to me, should I tell her and then ask her if she wants it in writing?

I'd tell her and give it to her in writing, she may not want it in writing, but you should put it in writing.

Yup, please do both. I have been on the other end...nannies...had them just text or e-mail me...this is no longer working out...here is my 2 weeks notice... I find it very immature...

Welp, I couldn't do it. She tore her tendon in her right foot off the bone or something of that nature, and I felt so sorry for her I couldn't do it.

Well, you'll do it when the time feels right.

Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
Thanks! But I need to soon! She keeps calling me the morning of or at nine the night before saying either I don't work for a week or she needs me at the butt crack of dawn that morning or the next morning. If my schedule stays as planned I will work only 25 hours this MONTH. She only works me when her other helper is gone or she's gone. I just feel unappreciated and I need a job where I get paid, I get paid about once every month. It's a mess.

Have you found another job yet?

I would do that first. If you really like working where you are, tell her you need set hours or will have to look elsewhere for work.

I have turned in an application for a place that's being being built in town and if I do quit then I can work at a quick stop about two miles away from my house. I do like my job but the thing with this job is it all depends on the kids that if I work or when I work.

I would mention your need for more hours/money now so that maybe she can schedule you more in the time being...and so she is not blindsighted when you quit. You really don't want to burn a bridge w/ her, I'm sure.

I agree with others.

Tell her that you need more set hours or you will be forced to find another job. If she can't give you the hours you need then tell her you will be looking and will give her a 2 weeks notice. You can start the conversation saying you really enjoy the job, love working with her and appreciate all she's taught you..but you need more hours....etc.

Sounds like you are happy there but need more consistent work? Correct?

That's exactly it! And I also need to get paid more than five to six dollars an hour, it sounds selfish and greedy but I need gas money, and money for college next year. Thanks so much for all and any advice!

I agree that you should tell her that as much as you like working for her blah, blah, blah, you really need a set schedule. Even if she doesn't give you the amount of hours you want at least if you know when you're working you can maybe get another job to fill in the gap.

If you got nothing to bring to the table - don't even bother sitting down.

I finally did it! I just told her that since she was down to seven I applied for another job! We both took it well and we talked about it!
