Default Any Extreme Couponers onsite?

Two women I work with are seriously into couponing...and have gotten me interested in trying.

Last wknd I bought the Sunday paper and clipped about 20 out and organized them in a little folder w/ sections made for this purpose (didn't want to invest in the baseball card holders and looseleaf notebook just yet LOL)

The KrazyCouponLady.com doesn't match up w/ the supermarket chain I prefer to use. So I located a few other sites that do match ups to use for that chain. Nothing worth getting excited about. This chain also has an app that lets you e-clip coupons right from your phone that sync directly to your loyalty card. That part works great. But I keep forgetting the little folder of paper coupons in my car and so far I haven't seen anything majorly fantastic. Certainly nothing free or any cash back.

I plan to print coupons from online bc I don't want to keep buying big newspapers.

But beyond that, do you guys have any tips or personal experiences to share?

I will try to watch as many (old) episodes of Extreme Couponing this week as I can!

Check with Scrills. She was doing that for a while. Not sure if she's still at it.

I find that you can do really well at the drugstores by using a manufacturer coupon while the item is on sale at the store. For example, Rite Aid had DHs speedstick deo on sale BOGO, plus I used a coupon as well. Also work the extra care bucks they give into sale purchases the next time you shop.

I was doing it and I'm getting the itch to start again. In fact, I was collecting coupons earlier today.

Try thekrazycouponlady.com. She has good lists that combine sales ads and coupons

If you are just starting, start small. I would suggest starting at a drug store and doing one or two items at a time

I try to eat "clean", so I find it hard to find coupons for the items I need. Any suggestions for fresh fruit & vegetables, etc? The best I am able to do is shop the weekly ads.

EXACTLY!

I don't use 90% of this crap that they have coupons for.

When will chicken breast, Porterhouse steak, dairy cream, goat cheese, good coffee and fresh produce have coupons???

The main processed fake food I consume is Splenda and I haven't seen any coupons for that (and boy is it pricey!).

I do spend a lot on laundry detergent, dishwasher pods, paper towels and toilet paper and from what I hear, a good couponer can pretty much get these free. But in the two weeks I have been trying to do this, I haven't seen how. I guess you have to wait and stock up when they really great matchups happen...

What I don't understand:

Can you ever use multiple coupons for the same item? Like if I clip something from RedPlum in the Sunday paper and find another nonRedPlum source online, can I use both and then apply to an already marked down article?

Also, do I need to physically present the catalinas (that get printed out when I get my receipt) the next time I shop or do they automatically get applied thru my loyalty card?

Also, can I ever combine offers? Like if there is an offer where you get 4 Kellogg cereals for $4 and there is another offer where you can BOGO free Corn Flakes, how much would I be spending if I brought 8 boxes of Corn Flakes to the register?

Agreed. The food is crap but all the toiletries and household items make it worth it.

Yes, you can combine coupons. Most likely it will be one store coupon and on manufactors coupons. I'm not 100% sure about 2 manufactors coupons but it's rare to see 2 active at the same time. After awhile, you will see the trend and coupons run in cycles, same coupon over and over again. One expires and the other one becomes active

Yes, you need the physical coupons/catalina (unless it says "savings with store card)

Yes, you can combine offers. That's the whole goal, to combine a store sale with a coupon.

Certain stores allow double coupons (so applying two of the same type of coupon on the same single item). But you have to call ahead and find out which ones.

One thing they did on the tv show that i thought was clever was to only buy as much as the coupon discount. So if the coupon is $1 off black forest ham, you buy $1 worth of black forest ham and get it for free (as opposed to buying $3 worth and paying $2 for it after coupon). Do that 5 times and you have $5 worth of ham for free.

I agree with the others that its really only good for processed foods and toileteries. In only a couple of weeks of couponing I had a years supply of canned tuna and household paper products and shampoo. Then I stopped because it started to feel like I was hoarding lol.

^^ at least where I am, double coupon means that they will double the amount the coupon takes off (for coupons a $1 and less). You don't actually need 2 coupons (and that makes a big difference)

^^^this has all been helpful. Thanks.

Another thing that's confusing me is why stores don't synchronize their sales and store coupons? It seems so random and almost like they are trying to frustrate us. I understand the manufacturers coupons will come out on their own cycles. But why can't the stores either try a little harder to make all three events (manufacturers coupons, store coupons and their sales) or at least their store coupons and sales co-incide? They're not losing anything when they accept man coupons and the sales bring traffic and lead by loss. But when they have these crazy random stars-aligning coupon bonanza days, they actually wind up having to pay some couponers to shop.

Ooooh ok - maybe I misunderstood the friend who was telling me about this. Apparently there is only one store in town that "double coupons".

Canadian couponing is pretty pathetic compared to what you guys are able to do in the US.

^^^ I think the manufacturers set many of the store sales. If you notice, the same things are on sale at the same time at different stores.

If I had to guess, they do that so there is always some type of sale/incentive to pick their product.

So the extreme couponers try to sync all three together
