How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Approximately

What shoe category is most heavily represented? Where would you want to beef up your collection? What's the "best" pair you have? How important do you think shoes are in terms of your outfits and your wardrobe? (i.e., they make the outfit or they are a mere afterthought or something else?) Do you think more than a certain number of shoes is too many?

Laptop problem

oooops!

CurlyCanadian 08-29-2013 02:34 PM

I'm going to safely say 50+, but probably closer to 75. 10 or so that I wear regularly.

I need dressy flats. In the summer I only ever wear flip flops during the day, then heels or boots at night. I need some cute flats to get out of the flip flop routine!

Lotsawaves 08-29-2013 02:37 PM

I'm cracking up. How did you laptop thread get on here?

As for the question on the shoes...I'm not sure how many. I'd have to count when I'm at home. That does include boots too, right? I would say that most of my shoes are heels or wedges. My fav are a pair of Santana leopard print. I feel that the shoes can make or break my outfit. They are an accessory like my jewelry. I wear a lot of black in the Winter, so I'm looking for some heels in bright colors.

CurlyCanadian 08-29-2013 02:42 PM

As far as the laptop, I would use a compressor and try and blow it out. Check the manufacturers website for driver updates (or just reload them....that fixed an issue with the USB ports on my Vaio), or if something has been spilled, replace the keyboard.

claudine191 08-29-2013 05:01 PM

I don't want to know. It's one of my indulgences.

The only thing I currently need in that department are winter slippers, thanks to Mia/Mimi and her slipper-eating issue.

RedCatWaves 08-29-2013 11:06 PM

50+

I think all genres are represented in my collection.

Starmie 08-30-2013 03:19 AM

I'd be surprised if I had 20, not something I tend to indulge in. I've got all sorts but very few heels, can't walk in them!

OBB 08-30-2013 03:45 AM

3 - one pair black dress shoes, one pair white tennis shoes and one pair brown casual shoes. i have lots of sandals do they count as shoes?

Luuuuucy 08-30-2013 05:45 AM

I think sandals count as shoes. Anything you wear "out" with an outfit.

I probably have 50 or more. I have everything (although it never feels that way to me!). Boots, sandals, flip flops, heels, ballet flats, wedges. The only thing I don't own are platforms. Not my style.

Myradella3 08-30-2013 06:20 AM

I'm in the 50+ category. I need dressy but comfortable black shoes, maybe some brown ones too.

cympreni 08-30-2013 07:07 AM

Maybe 10ish? That's a lot for me. I'm not a shoe person, so I just maintain the essentials. If I have more (like now), then it's because I got lucky with a clearance sale.

Fifi.G 08-30-2013 07:33 AM

Lard!! Don't ask me this. I lost count of shoes, along with purses, but I don't have as many as I used to. My most favorite pairs were ruined in a leaking closet years ago. I will safely guesstimate 50+ with boots being the leader, and as always... I want more. Boots are handy and fashionable when you live in the woods. Various sandals are a close 2nd, because that's all you need in the summer.

I really want to replace my Doc's. They were one of the pairs ruined in the closet, I got them in 92 and they were ruined in 2002. I had worn them out! The soles were slick. If I can find the exact same pair (black with rainbow thread & laces), I will re purchase. They were well worth it.

idk...30ish... I used to have about 60 but gave a lot away. I have a lot of ballet flats, which I really like. I also have several pairs of mules with heels. I like to look good for work, which includes wearing nice shoes, but my feet are an in-between size. That makes wearing heels a pain (pun intended). Mules are a great compromise for me. Re: brands, I really like Joan & David.

I wish I had more of...everything, really. I guess I'd especially like some nice heels, but they're just not practical for me.

I don't know what my best current pair would be. The best I've had though would be Bally wedges with an ankle chain. They were about $300 (I got them either on sale or on Ebay), but they weren't comfortable. I sold them on Ebay.

As far as how many is too many, Imelda Marcos-level is too many. Other than that, I'm not sure...

spiderlashes5000 08-30-2013 08:53 AM

I wonder how many of you are underestimating how many pairs you have. :glasses3:

I recently got rid of a bunch of old and dogged ones and thought I had only about 20 pairs left. But I started to count and realized I have more than 65 pairs left.

I'm including boots, sneakers and sandals. Not including house slippers or rubber flip flops (I love my rubber flip flops but somehow I just can't call them shoes.)

The types of shoes that are overrepresented for me are: UNCOMFORTABLE and TOO HIGH!

I wish I could find more really cool, nice looking pairs w/ 3-4 inch heels. I don't ever want to buy anything over 4 inches ever again.

I HATE those classic (ie, plain, boring) pointy-toe, black, spike heel pumps and never buy them. like these:

But I feel a tad remiss for not owning a pair. Like less than a woman, like still a child.:-|

I have a similar pair for interviews and such, but I recently bought these and love them. Surprisingly comfortable and reminiscent of the $900 Valentino Rockstuds that I daydream about. I got them in nude and black, super cute!

Me too! It's hard in general for me to find a basic black pair of pumps that I like. I don't like pointy toes at all.

spiderlashes5000 08-30-2013 10:13 AM

I don't mind pointy toe heels but they have to be a fun color or texture or have some kind of little buckle or ankle strap or chunky heel or be a two-piece or something. The above are soooooo boring.

What I hate are pointy toe shoes that are super flat. Like these:
http://l4.zassets.com/images/z/1/3/2...RGE_SEARCH.jpg

They would be a perfectly cute little ballet flat if the toe was round.

Here at Sole Society

They're also sold at Nordstroms, so I bought the first pair there at the b&m store, and ordered the second online. I wish they were leather but at that price, I guess you can't be too picky. They aren't like workhorse shoes anyway, so no biggie.
