Will a Smartphone change my life??

I don't understand when people are so concerned with their privacy and people knowing where their house and is? Sure if your talking to a stranger online that's turns out to be a psychopath. But if you are a normal person then anybody can look up your address in a phone directory. Anyone can walk by and break into your home. One concern would be posting when your not at home and if you have your information public someone could break into your home if they were targeting in that manner. Just set your Facebook to friends only then.

I also did not have a smart phone or Facebook account until I was in my 30's. I am simply not as comfortable with it as others may be, and that's fine too. It's not just psychopaths, sex offenders, etc... you have to worry about. Did you ever see this video?

It's a PSA from Belgium:

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I saw that video before. It was too funny. I'm so glad I don't have a Facebook right now

I am beyond careful about who I accept, when people ask that you change settings so you are not sharing their info, I do. I try to be respectful. I have all my setting locked tight now, but I have received a few emails saying my photos have been used in advertising. What, I do not know, and it happened through a group that a good friend added me to. I keep waiting to see my face under "Penis Enlargement!" or "White Girls On The Prowl". You know how those stupids adds are.

I have to add these, because it's the truth.

Factoid: Pedestrian deaths in hit and runs are on the rise because people are not paying attention to their surrounding when walking on/near a road, and also due to drunk walking.

So there's some con's. haha.

These are some of the great things you can do with an iPhone:
- Use as a GPS. It works great for me. No more printing directions before I go anywhere.
- Use as flashlight, alarm, write your shopping list, deposit your checks, as another poster already said.
- Check your email/Internet during boring work meetings, while waiting at the Dr.'s office, when you can't sleep, etc.
- Use WhatsApp (great if you have family overseas and don't want to use regular texting).
- Use the different radio apps and pick music from everywhere. Use as an iPod as well. No need to buy CDs.
- Come here to CurlTalk whenever you want.
And so on.
" I just want to say
that ever since l got a smart phone
I was able to get my phone bill paid, I got sounds and 13's
put up in my Cavalier and I was able to get a free trip to Cancun
And what's most importantly is that I ain't gotta f*** Ray Ray's

LOL. No but seriously they are very convenient. I am using my iPhone right now just as a regular phone in Taiwan until I turn my data on.

Yes it will change your life and for me navigation was the main issue. I use it for driving and walking around it's very helpful in a new city. I've been without one for short periods of time and that's when I realize how much a smartphone does. I use it to find businesses near me, shops, order food on the fly, find a restaurant while I'm driving through a new city, etc.

It's nice to have email and fb but those are not necessary for me. The camera on the phones are great. I was just thinking over the weekend how much more of my life is captured in pictures now due to smartphones (I never liked carrying around a camera to take pictures). It's also nice not having a separate gadget for music (I use it mainly when working out) and the music options are unlimited.

i got a smart phone last month on clearance from my carrier, but i use pay-as-you-go and don't have a data plan for it.

i also have an older iPod Touch and a tablet and laptop. the tablet is my e-reader and computer when i visit mom (though she doesn't have internet).

the most annoying thing about my smart phone - LG Optimus 3 - is that it keeps telling me that i'm trying to access the internet, when i'm not!

there's so much free wi-fi around these days - the entire downtown here in London has it - that i don't see the need for a data plan.

I wish there was wifi everywhere here. I just moved to a more rural area so I really only get it on campus

Lots of people have left Facebook over privacy concerns.

When stories of US employers login into applicants Facebook accounts came out a few of the teenagers I know started deleting their accounts.

Funny thing is none of the teenagers had anything bad on their accounts. (I befriended them when they requested it then got worried they would see what I was up to!)

I'm more or less a monogamous curly. I might have a few other places I visit, but not often.

Cailin, I was googling the flip vs smart phones during lunch and came across a few interesting articles over the last year. There seems to be conflicting info (as always on the interwebs) but it seems flip may be making a comeback. For some reason several seem to have a huge problem with this. I don't why you want to prevent options in products. You'd have to have stock in SP or just be stuck up.

And one side note

Just in case you're bored.

I don't have a computer or tablet so a SP works for me at the moment but I doubt I will keep one.

^ And no I do not take mine into meetings, class, etc. I didn't have one until I was 36 and I still remember how to act right. I can surf at work, read, play games in between calls, and so forth. It's helpful at 3am, but when the phone rings or someone talks to me it goes on the desk, and stays there until I have some free time.
