I just bought these ankle boots in "black" (Dansko). I have problem feet and these boots are beyond comfortable. I have had a love/hate relationship w/ Dansko footwear for the past 12 yrs. Super comfy but highly unattractive.
(Here they are in "brandy" so you can see the details better.)
Bc they are so comfy, I want to get a shoe version of the boot in "slate":
Here they are in "brandy" just to get a better look. But I want them in "slate" which is a very dark taupe, close to black.
Here is a picture of a model wearing them in "brandy."
(They also have them in a mary jane version that I don't want. Just FYI
So are they hideous? (ie, the shoes I want -- not the boots or the mary janes) I think you can get away w/ more in a boot. But shoes are supposed to be cute, right?
I would wear mine like the model, in above the knee skirts and dresses.
I have lots of shoes...so it's not like this would be my only pair and I would be wearing them everyday w/ everything. My job moved and now I have to walk a couple of blocks to park. Plus, I like to walk at lunch, and don't always want to have to bring sneakers.
One last time, so no one is confused...these are the shoes I'm debating:

I like them. I actually like the Mary Jane one, too. I have foot issues, too, so sadly many shoes I love don't work for me, but these I like and would probably work for me. Making me like them even more.
I like them! Or I should say I would like them if they weren't platforms/wedges. I have a major dislike for platforms and wedges. But ignoring that part, I really like the ones with the crossover straps.
I actually like them a lot. Not ugly at all! I like them better than the Keanes.
Haha, I had forgotten I mentioned the Keens here. I wore them on my lunchtime walk yesterday. I was going to say in the post above "I don't always want to have to bring sneakers or walking shoes" but that was too complicated!
They are sooooooo ugly, too; I'm lightweight embarrassed everytime I wear them. LOL But they are great for my walks.
I'm getting really tired of this dichotomy: cripple yourself w/ cute heels or invest in pricey orthopedic-looking shoes and feel like a dowdy old lady. I just got rid of about 35 pairs of shoes...many of which were cute but TORTUROUS!
I love them...but I have problem feet too. Old ladies do not wear wedge heels (or any heels really), so I think it's all in the attitude and what else you wear with them. I love the shoes, but I would call them boots also...they have enough vamp to qualify for boots, IMO.
As you know, they are not " OMG so cute! Squeeeee!" shoes. :-)
They're a little more...rugged? Earthy? Than I would personally choose, but I don't think they're ugly or dowdy or out of style. They are fairly 90s, but the 90s styles are coming back in a big way, so you'll be right on trend for the next year or so if you buy them.
