Default American Horror Story: Coven (Spoilers)

Hopefully, I haven't missed a thread about the new season of American Horror Story: Coven. Anyone watching? Thoughts?

I thought the first episode was good.

I did not watch the first two seasons. I watched this because of all the commercials everywhere and the creepy imagery in them. Theme: disturbing.

Um, the beginning was like Django Unchained or something....very disturbing stuff.

It was creepy in a Friday the 13th kind of way. Jessica Lange is cray, and nice to see Sarah Paulson (I remember her from American Gothic).

Other than that I don't know if I'm going to watch. That one scene in the frat house....that made me want to write the show off all together. As disturbing as the beginning.

The rest was kind of boring.

I really like Kathy Bates, but her character was also disturbing.

I did watch the first two seasons, and the first one has been my favorite so far. Asylum was OK, but didn't keep my interest as much as Murder House. Although, the season finale of Asylum was a lot better than Murder House.

Coven is a bit disturbing...and from preview for next week's episode, it looks as if zombies are coming to NO.

I am interested to see where the story will be taken, so I will watch a few more episodes.

Another person who remembers American Gothic, definitely a show before its time. It would be great to have a remake of it.

Murder House has been my favorite so far, but I enjoyed Asylum. It just took me a little longer to get interested. The way they are doing the show is a different, but interesting format.

I think I am going to like this season. This show is always disturbing, and parts are always hard to watch. The creators will not consider holding back, no matter the topic (I kind of admire that). It is absolutely hitting hard this season but I like how all are throwing the punches.

Kathy, Jessica and Angela are three amazing actresses, and their interaction is... Jaw dropping. They are doing their job.

CA, Sarah has been in all three seasons (along with Jessica, Evan Peters (the nicer frat boy) and Dennis O'Hare. Her smallest role was in the first, but she has been great in all. Jessica has been mind blowing, every time.

Dennis O'Hare has been in all three? Wow...I totally missed him in the first two.

Is CA the actress who plays Misty Day?

Last night's episode was interesting...I can't wait until Misy meets the other ladies.

Lilly Rabe is the actress who plays Misty Day (and played the young nun in Asylum). CA is Curlyarca Dennis O'Hare was in 2 seasons, not 3. Sorry about that. He was in the first, and will be in Coven. He was the man on fire in season 1, if that makes sense (w/o spoiling for those who have not seen it).
I adore him. He is an incredible actor. They could not have found a better person to play Russell, the Vampire King of Mississippi on True Blood.

I really do appreciate the writers approach to topics. The show is supposed to be horrifying and they have covered several sensitive subjects in American History (and current events), in a unusual way.

Oh...thanks for the clue. It took a moment for me to figure it out, and now I remember him.

Ha...I was wondering who CA was.

I recognize Lilly Rabe from all 3 seasons along with a few others.

I do wonder about O'Hare's current character. And hopefully, we will get to see more of the actress from Six Feet Under.

I hope Frances Conroy is back for more, too. I want to see her with a larger role again. She is another talented soul. They do a great job with casting.

Lard knows I am always willing to see Dillon McDermott and Adam Levine come back again.

Adam Levine? What part did he play and which season?

I don't know what's creepier; American Horror Story: Coven or the fact that so far two of the characters and their stories are semi-real.

He had a smaller role in the second season, Asylum. He was rather juicy in the first episode.

Watching all seasons gives you an idea of how tremendous the talent is.

What the heck!!!??????

This show is cray. It just gets weirder and weirder. My skin is crawling and I literally teared up. Just all kinds of wrong!!! Makes me want to go shower....forever. Just when you thought you couldn't get more creeped out, this show takes it a step further.

This is on some other levels. Like beyond The Walking Dead, and not in a good way. Dang...

I don't know if I can take this. Were the past seasons like this, too? Extremely disturbing.

Truly horrifying, right? And it's not so much the witches, it's the human underbelly.

Yes, the other seasons were like this. I have a feeling the first will remain my favorite, but so far I am more captivated by this one than the second season. I can't look away.

Jamie Brewer is fantastic! She played Jessica's daughter in the first season. That was a disturbing relationship.

Oh my goodness...

I am interested in how the new neighbors will interact with the school.

Do we really think Fiona killed the correct next in line Supreme?

I thought about your last question myself. It's a pretty good indication she was one, considering how much her powers had grown since Fiona moved in, but she may not be the only one.

I am thrilled that Frances C will be back next week, and having what appeared to be a good Ruth Fisher type freak out.

That was intense.

Spoiler below...

It seems that Tom could be a serial killer. In his words, a monster.
I wonder if Kyle found his way to Misty Day.

Can't wait for next week's episode.

I would say Tom was doing the exact same thing the Halloween before. Meeting unsuspecting women in chat rooms, starting a relationship, and murdering them. Yet another horrible reality based theme.

**********

I was reading through a blog a few days ago and shaking my head at how clueless the author was. It was written during Asylum. He was chastising the writers for not pulling from more reality based crimes. While Asylum didn't technically have as many real life account connections as Coven, or Murder House, it has the same themes. Several characters/plots in MH were loosely based on real crimes, or reflections of not so great moments in time. One infamous victim was officially named.

Asylum pretty much so covered some of the more horrific reasons why people were committed, treatment of patients in mental health facilities, and had a plot loosely based on a couple of real murderers.

As we know Coven has at least 2 infamous women in NOLA history, covers Salem to some degree, has what I am sure is a cyber reality based killer, and I you can bet more is to come.

I can't wait until they do their Manson based season...
