What If a Guy meets You with A protective Style?? How do you transition into Natural

If I guy meets you with a protective style how do you transition into showing your natural?
Do You tell him staright Up?, or do you just go for it and if he doesn't like FORGET HIM!! LOL

Because I know for me I wear my hair natutural probably 85% of the time so if you meet with a protective I don't if you think that's who I am lol

I'd have the opposite problem maybe in this situation- I don't like what my hair looks like in protective styles so I do them when I won't really be leaving the house, lols. My thought there is if I like it, I'll keep it but so far I never like it. I also think it depends on your hair. I have fine textured, 3C/4A hair with low density. I love my curls so much that I pretty much only rock wash and gos- well my hair doesn't do set styles like twist outs/braid outs, etc very well anyway. Either way- I'd just rock my natural and if they don't like it well we can talk about it but at the end of the day "Imma be me."

*Disclaimer- I haven't really dated anyone since I've been fully natural so I don't know about this all the way yet. The last guy I met/dated happened when I was still transitioning. However, while I was transitioning I was still wearing wash and go's all the time.
3C/4A, fine texture, low-medium density, and low porosity?
CG since November 2013.

Pre-Poo: Coconut Oil overnight, or a greek yogurt mixture
Shampoo: Curls Cleanser and/or clarifier
Conditioner: trying out different Suave Naturals conditioners and GVP's leave-in conditioner at the moment
Styler: iagirl's super smooth flax curl cream. <3
PT: iagirl's gelatin treatment 3-4 times a month
DT: conditioner or yogurt base with honey and oil if the conditioner has none.
I've been in a situation where a guy met me with senegalese twist then I had natural hair he didn't like it but he stuck around with me for a long time but we eventually ended it.

I would always tell him if he didn't like it another man would lmfaoo
Though it's rare for me to get into these problems because I wear my naural hair very often

Lols- that sounds a little like my ex. He would keep offering to pay for my hair to get done- I was transitioning and wearing my wash and gos. I went to my hairdresser only for trims bc I'd sweat any hairstyle I was given out within a day or two when I exercised so it was wasteful.

I hadn't thought too much about things like that before this thread.

I've never had this problem, because I wear a wash and go every day, but I'm interested to see how others answer it.

I would have to say that if I did wear protective styles and could come across this, I most likely would just wear my natural hair one day and see how he reacts.

I purposely scheduled a hair appt so i can decline any invites, LOL
If "protective style" means "a wig, weave or extensions in a hair texture that is totally unlike my own," then yes I can see how this situation would arise. Just like wearing colored contact lenses and fronting like it's your real eye color. Caveat emptor...caveat vendor...

When I was on a dating site, I purposely showed pics of me w/ my hair curly and straight so there would be no...confusion.
3b (with 3c tendencies) on modified CG

As I understand it a true 'protective style' is some sort of low/ minimal manipulation up do where the ends are tucked away and protected. Something like a bun.

It does not involve lots of manipulation and fake hair because that us damaging not protective. None of us look the same with out hair up as loose, regardless of curl pattern. Plenty of cubes straighten occasionally, plenty of straight hairs use a curling iron.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
I'm surprised to see how many people do wash and go. Regarding this topic the last guy who was interested in me actually loved my natural hair.
I don't know much about "protective styles" but based in what I've read here it includes wearing a wig as well.
If I'm using a wig on a permanent basis for a long period of time, I would wear a wig to meet the guy first time. If I alternate between my natural hair and a wig, I would wear my natural hair on that first date and the wig for a second date (if there's a second one). That way the guy will know I wear my hair in different styles.
