I'm down for dim sim
Though Flushing is a bit far from me. Some places in Chinatown have awesome deals for dim sum.

Ninety nine per cent of Saria's posts make me hungry.

Yeah, but Flushing has better dim sum (and regional Chinese food) than Chinatown. Sunset Park in Brooklyn is also supposed to be really good for Chinese. But Flushing is best.

I wasn't 100% sure what dim sum was until I read that Serious Eats post when it was published. Sounds like my kinda food because I love having a little of everything.
Ninja, I hope you can appreciate that I needed to update my signature line and you were divine inspiration.

I can vouch for Sunset Park, but I've never had dim sum in Flushing. Must go and be able to compare

Curlylaura, there are a lot of posts on chowhound's UK board about dim sum. It would be fun to see pics of a UK dim sum curly gathering!

Well then you can go hang out in the corner with SO...pickle haters
On a pickle related note. My inlaws chop sweet pickles and put them in their tacos. It's surprisingly good.

Mmmmm...dim sum! Count me in! I went to a really cool restaurant in China for dim sum. We ordered the "deluxe dinner" where we got to try 18 different kinds. Most of them were shaped like it's filling (the duck one was shaped like duck, there was a walnut one shaped like a walnut, etc.). It was fabulous!

Kasden, so jealous! How many people did you have?
I'm not big on cucumber pickles, but I love pretty much all other pickled vegetables. Heck, I like homemade cucumber pickles too, since they're a little sweeter and a little less salty.

Homemade pickles with extra dill...yum. My grandmother also makes spicy pickles that I can't get enough of.

My Nanny used to put up these syrupy sweet spiced pickles with cucumbers from their garden and I've never been able to find anything like them. They were in this thick liquid and the pickle itself had a different texture than any other pickle I've had. I always loved putting them in deviled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad or just eating plain. I know there were some type of whole spices in the thick brine, cloves maybe. I wish I'd had the sense to ask about these things before she died.
I miss her pickles.
I miss her cheese straws.
I miss her dressing.
I miss her house.
I miss her.

I smashed my toe in a massive metal door. Now there's a nice puncture wound through the side of my toe, and the entire thing is swollen and purple. And it hurts like a b!%^$. I also managed to severely gross out a few friends while changing a bandaid on it. Ergh.
