I appreciate your honesty and I believe you but I still feel so hurt and betrayed. Stop asking if I'm ok. I will be ok but it will just take time. I just found out, you've had months to deal with this issue and come to terms with it.

Mmmmm...cake...

I can understand crying at the wedding of your birth child...I'm practically crying, and I don't even know her.

ENJOY the evening. You deserve it.

Yes, there was a thread about this awhile back. I still use them sparingly in my pesto, but I cut back on any other consumption of them when I discovered they were the culprits behind that horrible bitterness. The good news is that I read that only a certain type that causes the bitterness; you just have to avoid that particular type.

Most of us who live in a country with an 'unfair class system' don't give a rats arse that some people are more privileged or richer than us. We're too busy getting on with our lives to give a sh*t. The only contact I have with the Queen is when I touch money or use a stamp.

And you think you don't live in a country with an 'unfair class system'. Got any really rich people there? Are you rich? Are you more educated and privileged than other people in your country? You are?! Guess what? You're part of the unfair class system too.

I am sick of hearing how sh*tty Britain is because it has a monarchy and aristocrats and has traditions that go back thousands of years. If you don't like it give up your passport and nationality. Bugger off. Or better yet find something else to get worked up about.

There's more I want to add to it but someone here may take offence or say 'that's not what I mean' and I want to add a massive eyeroll whenever I see their posts.

I'm quite interesting in hearing what you have to say. A friend of mine keeps going on and on about how surprised I'll be by the class system in the UK when I go to grad school there. I'm making notes so that I can use it for ammunition.

I've lived here since I was 9 and I have been to state schools and private school and I have never noticed the class system. Maybe it's because I live in what was the industrial heartland and not in the London, oxford and Cambridge triangle where I suppose a lot of people may expect others to be obsessed with class. Most people you will come across really will not care about 'class'. I've noticed most people who complain about 'class' don't live here.

Where are you going to be studying?

When you come will you let me know if you do notice the class system?

The rest of my rant was aimed at something that was posted on the board. I may or may not post it.

The Catholic thread is cracking me up. It's like when members of a sci-fi fandom starts warring with each other.

On Robot Chicken, there was a segment where Shatner's hairpiece had adventures as a spy during the night while he slept. It was very funny.

LOL -- no kidding! On NC, you ask a simple question and all the usual suspects come out of the woodwork, with all the usual results. I started that thread with what I THOUGHT was a simple question, and it turned into War of the Worlds.

And of course, the usual people think that they were the cause of the thread, the thread was aimed at them, that they, as usual, are center of the universe and must weigh in . . . and in . . . . and in . . . . and in.

There is a big difference between "something you said led me to think of something" and "I am writing something to get back at you or address you personally . . . "

Well said. Every country has an unfair class system of one sort or another, some worse than others. At least the monarchy brings in a ton of tourist dollars . . . our rich folks don't bring anything to anyone's table but their own.

I am not rich, but I do know I'm part of the unfair class system. Some of the things I've got in life, I earned, but my starting point was definitely an advantage compared to many.
