I'm so glad your hubby cancelled the cookout and how freakin' RUDE of those folks to try and dictate someones hospitality!

If ninja is coming to a cookout I'd like to tag along and I'll bring my spicy bean salsa (vegetarian friendly!) and some chips. Calvin said he'll bring doggie treats.

Whaaaaah!

I want to come see nyn and springy and Calvin and Ali! All it ever does is stupid rain here, anyway. If I drink and eat too much, just leave me outside overnight and I'll stagger away come daylight and dog-walking time.

Springy, how is Calvin today, btw? Did you drug him? Can you please drug me, too?

I like them with a creamy, fatty Brie.

Are you eating well over all? Anything interesting?

Calvin is doing ok. I think he associated acting up with getting OUT of the crate (I had him out trying to soothe him during his stomach pains which were awful) so once he wasn't in pain any longer I started back to my ignore technique and he's settled down a little. So much psychological junk when it comes to dogs, ain't it?

I think he's still having stomach issues and I've put a splash of Gatorade in his water to try and get him to drink more and subbing mostly rice for his dinner.

I am going to ask the vet about some drugs for our trip to CA. I've decided he can stay in his bed while in the truck, but we might need to give him something in the evenings to keep him settled and from hurting himself with the excitement of going into a hotel. On long trips he sleeps 12 hours straight so I'm not worried about him being out of the crate in the truck.

Yes, I can ramble on about the dog enough to even make me insane. Sorry, I never seem to have a short answer!

****. My Dermatographic Urticaria is getting worse. It used to just be activated by scratches, and now I get it from striking too. There goes my rubber band-snapping habit.....unless I want to look diseased....

Basically, you get hives from minor injury to skin. It actually has to do with extra-thin cell walls and your body reacting to minor injury like it would an allergic reaction. Mine used to be scratch-induced only, but for some reason (I just realized this today) it is now also strike-induced, so if I snap a rubber band on my wrist I'll end up with a nice hive that follows the shape of the where the rubber band hit my arm.

I'll try to get a good picture of it in a bit. I was snapping bands in 4th block and I still have a litttttllle bit of one of my wheals, 4.5 hours later.

I looked it up!

I thought this was just a redhead-skin thing --- I get it a bit, too. Nothing like yours, though.

Sorry

^^taken immediately after snapping

^^about 1 minute after first rubber band snap

^^approximately 2 minutes after first picture.

It isn't THAT bad. A really good friend (who is also very cute, and I've been told is going to ask me out....) has the same thing, and we realized that we could snap each others names into our arms. I had his initials going across my forearm for a while.

OH! The last 2 pictures are on my upper forearm, close to my elbow. I forgot to take a picture of the reaction immediately after snapping, so I took a quick shot of my wrist as a fill-in.

I had to look that up. I get that when my dog jumps up and grazes/scratches my stomach or arms with his nails, even through clothing. I thought it was maybe grass allergies, but this explains it.

Thanks! It needs re-done. I have a peace sign and a heart on my foot, too.

That really sounds like a line from a joke, or a silly song.

Maybe a punchline.

Yeah? Are ya? Huh? Huh? I promise I won't get Mr. Calvin all riled up.

I'll drive to meet you, if you can fit me in. I'll even leave after one drink, so you can visit with your other friends.
