Holy cow, it is June! This summer is seriously flying by!
Is it terrible that I can't help but think about how much closer this brings me to going back to school? Ugh, and also how I really need to get moving on applying to another school...
Oh and also how I'm missing out on valuable time spent with my friend who not only goes to school on the other side of the country, but also will be spending next semester in South Africa! Hmph!
My, my. I'm quite the pessimist this morning!

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

I hate when people act like know-it-alls. I hate when people hear some stupid tidbit on the "news" and take it to be some new fact of life. Some study shows that cell phones may possibly have a link to some type of cancer (or may not have a link) and people are all running around like "I knew it! Cell phones cause cancer!". I hate when people take some anecdotes as facts. A gathering of personal stories does not constitute evidence.
Scientific research is difficult. Don't assume you know better just because you're neighbor's third cousin had disease X that they just KNOW was caused by disease Y.
I study this stuff (study design, etc.) for a living. It's so hard to hear people shoot their mouths off about what they "know".

My last name is spelled wrong on my check. With an S instead of a Z. I fail to see how because well, ID with and ungodly amount of forms all with clear Z in them! Also, they put my middle name on it (well, the shortened one I wrote on my SS before I got a new card recently with my new legal name. So, they clearly looked at my (former, no longer displaying my legal name) social security card as the source of my name instead of my ID, but they still spelled my last name wrong!

Sometimes the hatefulness around here is a little much.
Good thing there is a lot of lovely going around to balance it.

Also, this island might kill me with second-hand smoke. Seriously, this may be the ****ing smokiest place ever. I don't think it's a coincidence that it's also full of French people.

And that is why, as much as it distresses me at times, I don't doubt my heritage: the smoking; the meat and innards; the sexism.

Guess what? That invoice is due and I haven't received payment. Your stellar reputation is beginning to tarnish.
Am I going to have to send a ****ty email?

Ninja, I chose to believe, on your behalf, that the check is late because of the holiday weekend. I proclaim it shall be received today!
Seriously, I hope you get it soon.

Aw, TRBL, you're so sweet.
How's the eyesight/headache/dizziness issue? Feeling better?

Ugh. I'm trying to read Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, but I had to put it down. I have to get through these first few chapters, but it is so difficult to read about foot binding. The description is so horrifying that I truly felt myself getting sick and wanting to throw up from reading. I want to cry.

Oh, man ---- I feel your pain, Saria. I read about it and freaked. It's just......so...dementedly, morbidly, abusive. Violent, even. I don't want to say this lightly, but I'm really not sure that death isn't preferable.

Another One Bites The Dust is the theme song to my life.
I thought there were two nice men interested in me ... and then there were none.
I pulled a muscle in my back and am PMSing so I am pretty much just crying at my desk this afternoon.

Aw, divegirl.
I've got cramps, too. I hope you find solace in knowing that another shares your unmitigated physical joy.
