Since I'm in here and I never usually am I'm also gonna complain about William and Kate being here. I want them off our soil. I want us to get rid of this ridiculous monarchy. He can't speak French. Why are people fawning all over his bad French when politicians with 10x better French get lambasted (as they should) for daring to think they can hold national leadership, and they invest a lot of time and effort into studying French? You have known since birth you will be King of Canada (blech) so you should learn both of our languages properly, should you not?

Why can't I frigging concentrate on anything today. It's not that hard to do this assignment for the second time. Why has it taken me 2 hours to get next to nowhere with it?

Kitty, when will you learn that sleeping under the rollers of my chair is not a good idea?

OK, something weird's going on, I'm trying to do coursework but keep getting strange flashbacks from dreams I had weeks or months ago, I know they're not recent at any rate. Stupid brain!

Adding insult to injury, today I found some bits of my French scarf, the one Sadie ate weeks ago, moved by some squirrels or some birds from where Sadie "left" it. It's now under a big tree, in a friend's busy yard. Apparently, it's going to make fine nesting material.
Sigh. At least it's being recycled, right?

Nope! I think it's uncool to do that - what's passive-aggressive about it?
If you want me to be more specific, I am happy to be so - ninjadog's remarks about someone's pictures, username etc. are on-line bullying of that person.

Today I was told by both chef and executive sous (whose official title is actually chef de cuisine with French chef as executive chef --- oh titles) that I am welcome to work at The Standard (same company) once this is over. Also, because I have done such a good job (their words) and work very hard (which I said we all do --- I feel like such a slacker in comparison sometimes because I do so much delegating and organizing), I am getting a two-dollar raise, which I actually didn't even request or hint at in any way.

Oui? And what about your own remark that I'd "better watch out" because some day we may cross paths? That's outright bullying, Madam, whether the mods acknowledged it or not.
Go back to kvetching about the monarchy, will you? You'll remain on ignore as far as I'm concerned.

All well-earned, no doubt.
The wonderful Saria gets acknowledged! At last, at last!
Let's have madelines to celebrate. (Mine are pretty buttery, which you may not care for.)

This is quite the confusing statement.
Thank you, ninja dog.
I feel so out of the gossip.

My understanding is that some people prefer a more lemony flavor than they do a rich nutty butter predominance, and I have you down for a lemon-lover.
There's no good gossip. Just the usual isht-stirring. Wait --- that's not a nice comparison to make to a chef, is it? Sorry!
Anyway, happy for you, my dear!

Well, I do love the flavor and fragrance of lemon zest, but I do want a Madeleine to have a clean butter flavor as well, especially since I use cultured butter, which has that nice slight tang to it. Brown butter gives more nuttiness, which I like as well.
I've been taking guesses as to who the culprit is.
Nynaeve, is your sting feeling any better?

Someone utterly oblivious, and that's as it should be.

Off to look up cultured butter...........
Only to find this enlightening gem on the Wikipedia page:
"Butter meant for spreading on bread is often served with a butter knife."
You don't say!

Cultured butter is just that --- butter with cultures added. European butters tend to be cultured (aside from being higher fat) and when I can't get my usual European-style cultured butter, I go for Kerrygold or Lurpak, which if you read the ingredients are cultured, but don't advertise it. Great for spreading, but also great for baking, especially when you're making something where butter is the main flavor, like shortbread or brioche.
Even when I'm relatively poor, I can't bring myself to bake with anything else. Sigh, I just can't do it.
