A mandolin player was just playing a song with my first name as the title in the subway. (Which isn't Christine!) Very random!

I'm taking it as a good omen.

Saria advice needed!

So, because I'm easily distracted I forgot sugar in one batch of cranberry orange walnut quick bread I made yesterday so I have 5 mini-loaves of it. It's edible, and has a very slight sweetness to it because I used craisins. Do you have any ideas what I could do with it?

I thought maybe break it into big crumbles and doing some type of breakfast bake with it like some folks do french toast casserole? I have no clue, but something in the form of breakfast would be great.

Worse comes to worse maybe I can feed it to the birds.

Now I am trying to think of songs that have your name in the title!

Bread and butter pudding?
Poke holes in the loaves and make a simple syrup and bathe them in it?
Split and fill with frosting of choice?
Toast it up and slather it with honey butter?
Make some sort of trifle?
Brown betty?
Charlotte?
Make crumbs and use for strudel?
Make into crumbs and use the crumbs to make another bread in place of flour? (This is uncommon these days, but you can do it)
French toast?
Toast and serve with creme anglaise?

If you have an ice cream maker, you can make a delicious ice cream similar to brown bread ice cream. The base could be a spicy, gingery-scented custard.

Mercy, fabulous ideas.

I was leaning toward french toast because I've been craving it, but the loaves are tiny and very crumbly/craggy so I was thinking of baking something instead of individual slices done on the stove top. I thought it would be really good with the cranberries and walnuts.

Thank you!!!

Why IN THE WORLD you thought it was a good idea to put a vibrator on my desk, I will never know. Then again it was pocket sized.

It would be crumbly without the sugar to provide moisture, I suppose.

You could also treat them like biscotti. Slice, cover with a maple or honey butter, and toast in the oven until dry and crunchy. You'll have a great snack that keeps for a while. You can take it one step further and throw together a quick glaze of confectioners' sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and if you have them, poppy seeds.

Ok, so I'm definitely doing the biscotti thing with one of them and the rest I'll do sort of like a bread and butter pudding and bake it.

I've been soooo incredibly bored with our weekend breakfast rotation lately that this will certainly help!

Thanks again.

I called my parents tonight and spoke to my dad. I heard my mom say in the background, "Tell Phoenix to be careful riding elevators." I guess there's a new crime going around. So my dad whose hearing is apparently getting worse relayed the message as, "Can you ride elevators?"

lol
