I just want things to turn around. I'm doing my best and everything I can. It's just so lonely and frustrating.
Wait... so she knows this, and still asked you to come there? She's not EVEN offering to bring the kid to your place? And she wants to stay out ALL night?

You shouldn't even need plans to say no to that! And she should know better than to ask for that!

Sitting at home alone, taking a bath, a few glasses of wine and a book, or a movie, sounds fantastic to me. Sign me up for that.

Using my iphone with my toe thumbs. There will be typos.

No kidding! Hmmm... I wonder who can babysit for me so I can do that?

And when I've complained to my mom that my sister takes me for granted, she says,"But you DON'T have anything else going-on and you LOVE the baby."

It would go very far if she offered to pay me.

Just don't answer the phone. If you must talk to your family between now and then, don't talk about it! Every time they bring it up, change the subject, talk about shoes or kiwis or something. Then they'll get mad, hang up and not call back for a while. Works like a charm.
Exactamundo!

Three words: Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Or, alternately: Block. Her. Calls.

You know that saying "We teach people how we want to be treated?" THIS is a perfect opportunity to teach your sister that you can't be at her back & call simply because you don't have a set of concrete plans at the moment.

You need to stand up for yourself. I know it's hard but it sounds like you have some supportive people in your life. You need to look at the positives here. You say you're broke but your mom has the money to take a winter holiday. Your family is better off than most people. I wouldn't worry about your relations with your sister so much. You're not in the same household, right? Stay away from her and enjoy the time without your mom.

She won't offer, but you should tell her you'll do it for a fee. Her reaction should be entertaining.

I really can't believe she would ask you to spend the night babysitting her kid, and then get angry when you said no. Especially when she knows how allergic you are to her dog! I wish I knew her. I love smacking-down entitled people.

I used to work in bankruptcy law. The rules have changed a lot; it's even more a last, worst option. You can kiss any credit standing at all goodbye for years and years to come, and lose your house or car if you have one.
The rules might be the same here as in the US but you can only have a basic bank account for 6 years, you have no credit, you cannot take out bank loans and a bunch of other things I can't remember. Oh yeah, if/when you do get a credit rating, chances are the interest rates are sky high and if you rent while bankrupt landlords are likely to want 6 months up front.

Why do people think this is the best option to over spending?

Also my back is painfully swollen again and my arse bone really hurts. More lying down needed I think.

Aaaaah, there was a leaked Legend of Korra clip complete with Korra's voice (apparently Korra is bubbly, but badass) and spoilers regarding certain characters from ATLA, but it's been removed and I missed it. I NEED THIS CLIP IN MY LIFE!!!

Here is the spoilery info for anyone interested, complete with clip which I never got to see!
http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/64835760.html#cutid1

Yep, I'm totally feeding on spoilers, because the wait for all this awesomeness is killing me!

I can so relate

In other words...somebody's nephew or Goddaughter got the job.
Yup! Just what I assumed too.

CIBC:

Furthermore, don't tell your mother what your sister wants of you! She'll gang up with her against you.

The laws are very much the same here. It's a real blight on your economic record. Not something to do flippantly.

Honestly, even if I wanted to spend the night doing laundry, it's my prerogative and NOT MY CHILD.

When I have kids, she will never be a constant free baby-sitter. I bet none of them will even bother learning my kids' names.

D, reading about your sister's selfishness turns me into this angry brick guy every time: Stick to your guns!

Saria, I also love that the Mark Does Stuff community generally doesn't tolerate such nonsense. I should really hang out there more often to restore my faith in humanity. I don't know how much longer I can resist the urge to punch people who insist that because someone who's done wrong isn't pure evil, they must be magically absolved of guilt for their transgression. Is that how it works with anything else, ever? Do cops only give tickets to child murderers? Check. Your. Privilege.

I've been listening to this song on repeat whenever I can turn on my computer for the past two days. The opening sounds so badass. NIGHTWISH - Storytime (with lyrics) - YouTube

Sometimes it seems like everybody has a blog but me, and everybody else is all about advising me to start a blog. No way would I keep up a blog just being like "Look at me, I'm a person," though. I need to feel I have entertaining material first!

ETA: ...Recaps...sometimes go on blogs. I do have material. My logic - it glitches sometimes. >.< Should I do that once I've finished Buffy, put my recaps on a blog somewhere and link them here? Then I'd get to say I have one.

On a related note, KORRA LOOKS SO AWESOME OMG. (Didn't look at the spoilers, but did watch the opening clip you posted before.) I must finish Buffy and watch Avatar and then watch Korra and then maybe frolic in meadows to use up some of the resulting happiness.

I just resisted the urge to tell someone how stupid their idea was. Instead, I sent a nicely worded email with suggestions. So hard. It would be simplier to take over and just make the decisions myself
