A train conductor I always see just caught himself up on my life (since I don't ride the train every day anymore since I, you know, don't have a job) and told me he'd be thinking the best for me since he's been working this train for over ten years and I have ALWAYS been the most pleasant passenger. Manny the Train Conductor, you just made my day, and I was several feet away from Harry Connick today. That is saying A LOT.

Our Eckerd drugstore also had a restaurant.
We had a Woolworth's attached to our building when I was a kid! (in the 80's.)

Hey Splashy Lady, I hope you're not at the pool tomorrow. Does it never occur to you to bend your elbows? You're not a freaking windmill.

February can't come soon enough (when all the New Year's Resolution people drop out of going to the gym).

I was suprised by these posts about Woolworth's because we still have several stores in Mexico!
I googled and found that the Mexican stores were sold and are operated by Foot Locker Inc since 1997 .
I haven't been to any of them for a long, long time, so I don't know if they have changed.

ETA I re-read. It was sold by Foot Locker in 1997 to a Mexican Company. Sorry.

I saw my best guy friend for the first time in a couple of months today (he's been on the other coast) and he commented on how much better my energy has been. (This man has been on the receiving end of many a rant and gotten a thousand sad sac emails and crying phone calls this past year.)

He always tells me it like it is and definitely uses tough love, so when he said that to me it made me realize I AM trying, working with that stuff from "Positive Thinking Class" every week and all hope can't be lost just yet.

Great. All my sick and holiday days have been used up and I am now on statutory sick pay. A fantastic sum of 81.60 a week. I know it's better than nothing but benefit scroungers get more than that.

I want to punch someone in the nads.

I cannot sleep. I am livid that my account is overdrafted $50 because at the store, where I purchased a tube of lipgloss ($8 bucks), they must have included the makeup that the lady tried so hard to push on me or their debit machine is wacky.

I did not want the overly expensive makeup, I didn't agree to purchase it and I didn't leave the store with it. The total amount I paid on my receipt was $9 and change but my account statement says otherwise. So hopefully they will see their mistake and refund my money easy peasy. If not, I will believe that they're sheisty and will complain to their headquarters and the mall, bank, whoever needs to know. After that surprising purchase, I wasn't able to eat on my lunch break because my card declined, so add that to my pissed off mood.

Don't play with my money or food, you will feel my wrath.

Awwww Woolworths. Ours had a lunch counter and made the best grilled hotdogs. And it had wood floors that creaked.

I am very down in the dumps. Working from home and not having my close friends nearby (they are all about 45 minutes away) makes me feel very isolated at times. I also do not have family nearby. I get like this about once a year and I guess this the time. I also hurt all over from shoveling cement snow (only 2-3 inches but was WET) so B would not have so much to snowblow when he got home last night. And I slept awful. Oh well.

I hate waiting on other people to do their jobs so I can do mine. My vacation can't start soon enough.

If my mother sells this house, I am shuddering at all the stuff I will have to go through and get rid of and get storage for.

Grumble grumble.

Re: Seamus

It's even worse than that, actually: the dog was healthy when he first set him up atop the car; the diarrhea came later. His response? Hose the dog, crate, and car down, without removing dog from kennel.

A vile action from a heartless fool.

xcptnl, that stinks. I get like that sometimes, too. We took Calvin around the block last night and I saw a lady come outside to greet a friend and her son who had just pulled up. Just hearing that happiness and realizing I don't have anyone I can greet made me sad. How ridiculous is that?

I'm a loner and sort of prefer to be alone most of the time, but it even gets old for me not having any friends around. We need an online dinner party!

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

If we were to have an online dinner party, there would be a required minimum of 2 dishes with Bacon in it.. just sayin.

((Hugs)) to those who want/need em
