So, in my English class today, we did a peer editing workshop on our essays. They usually aren't that helpful, but I was really looking forward to some feedback because my paper is kind of a hot mess.

Yeah, guess who I got paired with?

The ONLY ESL student in the class. *headdesk*

So, basically, I couldn't understand about 95% of her paper, and she had absolutely no feedback for mine.

I don't know why I'm even surprised anymore, when stuff like this happens to me!

And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance
But you are not alone in this"

...why does the death of one drug addict seem more important than the death of other drug addicts?

but in our society (media-obsessed as it is), we feel connections to people in the public eye. how can i feel connected to someone when i don't even know of their existence?

Whitney Houston's music touched my life; listening to her lifted me, inspired me and soothed me.

i mourn for what could have been and a life cut short far too soon.

Its a ridiculous comparison. I absolutely HATE when people make that kind of comment. "oh, there are thousands of people who die from that a day, why am I going to make a big deal about this one person...." - what other point does that comment have than to just be different and start an argument.

First of all, it's sad to see someone who was so talented, and have the possibility of having so much, and throwing it away because of an addiction.

Second, it's a representation of people all over who are taken over by addiction.

Third, we feel a connection to her, so we would feel more emotion hearing about Whitney Houston dying than hearing about some one we didn't know in the next town over - but we would be more emotionally affected if say, our cousin died from a drug overdose.

Do people not THINK before they say or write things like that? It's pretty obvious to figure out. I'm not impressed by the attempt at being deep and philosophical.

People like this have lost touch with reality, and it's ridiculous. "Three celebrities in a row died"--one of whom committed suicide--but 30,000 black non-celebs in her age group die every day. Get a grip! People put them on some elevated level, as if their deaths are prophetic or surreal. THAT'S the kind of craziness I just can't tolerate and will not sympathize with.

Boyfriend came home with a card and Breaking Dawn, and called the florist and demanded they send another bouquet today BC the ones I got were frozen. And he was all mad BC they didn't come right the first time.

Which of course made me feel bad for even feeling irrational even though I kept it to myself.

This morning he goes to leave and I said, am I gonna get a 'Happy Valentines Day' from you? He says, hey, I sent you flowers and got you stuff and you don't even LIKE this holiday!

Which made me feel better BC that means he actually DOES listen to me.

So I got the closest thing to an 'I'm sorry my attitude sucks' card that I could find.

Making a really good pound cake does take some skill. I'm just saying there's no real mystery to it. People think it's some special super-secret cake, but it's essentially just a pound cake batter.

I haven't baked anything since my tres leches fiasco. I can't believe I forgot baking powder , I also think that recipe sucked butt.
Turtles: omg please don't put that in your moo moo

Nej: too late... moo moo has been infiltrated.
How can one hate pineapple? It's one of the most wonderful fruits ever. Sweet yet tart, juicy, great grilled or roasted. Mmm, pineapple.

Technically you wouldn't have needed the baking powder if that recipe didn't have some weird pound cake type of cake instead of a sponge like it should for tres leches.

I don't hate pineapple, but it hates me. I have an allergy to it.

I like pineapple except it makes my tongue go numb. But I still like pineapple.
