There is nothing better than getting FANTASTIC news on a Friday so you don't spend all weekend worrying about it.

last week i posted this:

Toronto News: Shelagh was here

and today the newspaper had a follow-up that includes stories and videos from the people that this woman touched in her too-short life:

Toronto News: Star package on the late Shelagh Gordon of Toronto touched readers profoundly - thestar.com

and i am once again reminded how empty and useless my life is with no friends and no one who loves me. the only time i go anywhere is to work or stores. when i'm at home, my phone never rings unless it's telemarketers...

Awe, Rou.

I wish you lived next door. You'd be sick of me before it was over with.

Dear Neighbor:

Perhaps your dog wouldn't run off if you kept it tied up in your own yard. Get a clue. I don't like hearing you call your dog at 11 at night.

Ugh, I don't know what's healthy anymore. Now I think we're not right at all for each other. That intimate connection is missing. I don't know how to feel feelings anymore without thinking they're wrong or that I'm crazy.

Sometimes I think I'm better suited to living away from everyone in a cave all by myself. With the internet.

Ok. I admit it!!! I am absolutely head over heels for my choir director. He's one of my best friends and my partner in crime and I've been crazy about him for as long as I've known him (7 years!!!). And I can't make the first move and he won't make the first move and it's absolute torture.

I've had eye pressure/pain for the last 9 months (only in my left eye).

It started as a mild irritant and gradually worsened. In the past 2-3 months, I have developed headaches, toothaches, earaches, bluriness to my vision, and stiffness in my neck.

My sinus was x-rayed and I was prescribed antibiotics. Nope, not the problem.

So, then my doc refererred me to an opthamologist. After waiting for. ever. I got to see him today.

I spent less than 5 minutes in his office. He did not give me a standard eye exam (where you read the chart with each eye). The only thing he did do was look at my eyes with a bright light while my chin was in that thingy (sorry, don't know what the procedure is called). Then he 'diagnosed' me with migraines. I asked him to please dialate my eyes and to give me a glaucoma test. He said no, he would not, my problem is neurological.

I'm furious. He may or may not be right, but I have now spent hundreds of dollars to see a specialist at the urging of my doctor, only to have nothing special done!

Is this weird? Does it seem wrong? I've had my eyes dialated on numerous occasions to just update my prescription in the past.

I had also mentioned to him that in the last year my mother developed plaque in her eye that has led to blindness. She currently has a medical negligence suit against an eye doctor who told her he was too busy to dialate her eyes during a routine exam. Approximately a week later, she lost her vision.

I don't blame you for being upset Rubber Biscuit. I don't play when it comes to my eyes. My ophthalmologist is extremely thorough and does tests on me that a number of other doctors don't do. If you're not satisfied, get a second opinion.

I really want shengjian bao. I'm going to have to seek out a source or make them myself.

Well, tomorrow there are plans to go to the new dim sum stall at Flushing Mall, and xiao long bao will be had, but delicious as they are, it's hard to beat a crispy-bottomed slightly chewy dumpling with the same filling. I can easily make the dough. It's the soup filling I don't really want to make because I don't have the room for a million dumplings.

My husband is making homemade limoncello and orangello. I'd love to combine them somehow for a cocktail or recipe!
