So, according to my supervisor, we are no longer permitted to keep ourselves occupied while at work with reading/schoolwork/whatever. Obviously that makes sense if there's work to be done (because, uh, that's what we're getting paid to do), like there is now, but seriously? 99% of the time, there is NO WORK for us to do. Not one thing. And the dumb little tasks that they DO give us to do take about 15 minutes to finish, tops.
What the eff am I supposed to do that whole time if I can't quietly work on my school work? My gosh. It's not like me working on homework while waiting for the phone to ring or the door to buzz (because some days, those are my only two jobs) is hurting anyone.

My favorite long-sleeved band t-shirt has been discontinued.

This is not a good day.

dear white people at my job,
please leave me alone. i really-really don't have an opinion about the trayvon martin case. i don't care about al sharpton, jesse jackson, all the blacks and hispanics that are flooding into florida, i certainly don't want to talk about the oj case or how menacing blacks look wearing hoodies or baggy pants and i really don't want to talk about how obama needs to keep his trap shut. i've come into contact with 4 white people and 3 of them wanted to talk about trayvon even though insisted that i really don't want to discuss it. i stated that i don't have a strong opinion about it as i don't watch television. other than what i've read online, i don't know. i have 2 uncles; a los angeles police officer and a los angeles district attorney, i'm taking their lead in trying to be unbiased. i've completely stepped away from this issue.
i have no idea why these people want to purge themselves all over me.
i'm going to have to be mean and walk away the next time someone mentions it.

You're Black. That means that you speak for all Black People. They want to discuss these issues with you, because the next time they get their asses handed to them in a race-related discussion, they can say that their Black friend frau agree with them.

Two things:

I picked up some minstrone soup from whole foods. It easy to make but B is not a fan sobthis is way for me to have some. I have been craving it. ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. WHY??? I needed to salt the crap out of it.

I have the top/pants that I bought for my mom packaged up to be returned. Now why does that make me so sad??

Oops. Three things.

Why is my sister getting on my last nerve? She is speaking/writing like a freaking hallmark card and it is annoying me to no end!

Ok. Rants done.

Dear Favorite Frau,

I've been in the "you represent everyone of your kind" situation, too. Mostly with Germans and Austrians who wanted to tell me about how unkind people were to them after WWII. (They did this because I'm half-Jewish ((though some on the site believe I'm inventing this fact, which is a really half-assed self-invention, imo, but anyway).

It's a rotten position to be in, and I'm sorry you're being besieged.

Your Pal,

the secretary said, "i have a friend who said that she wouldn't spit on a black if they were dying of thirst."

what am i supposed to say to that? how is that even important or relevant? i know she is trying to show that she is not racist like her friend, but yet...it leaves me with such a bad taste in my mouth. i'm just avoiding people today.

*Gasp!*

That's such a horrible thing to say. Why even pass that on?

And do people really say "A black"? I don't like when people leave out the word 'person'. To me, it's okay to use a racial difference to describe a person, as long as it's a visible one, because that would help describe someone, but leaving out the word 'person' makes me feel like they're not seeing them as a person.

oooh, interesting. i suppose it must be really bad to be jewish in front of germans and austrians. at every moment i'm sure they want to prove they had nothing to do with the death camps and that they're good people. i wonder who was mean to them and why it should be something you needed to know?

Exactly.

Not to be flippant, but at the time, all I wanted to do was get in the freakin' pool and do my laps for practice (this all took place at a swim club in Chicago), not listen to their post-war horror stories.

Anyway, I'm sorry people around you are so dim witted today.

Oh, cl. I can't buy sex related stuff in person, either, and I passed age 30 some time ago.

I still hate it when male cashiers or baggers see my menstrual products.

You are not alone.

There are days when you really have to search long and hard to find enough good things to make up for the bad things.

My great uncle died. I only saw him once a year or so but he was a nice man. Lived to be 94 tho, so can't really gripe.
My friend had to have her dog put to sleep.
Another friend had to have her cat put to sleep.
Another friend had to rush to florida because her mom had a stroke.
One of my boyfriends, Mr Harley, had a bad heart attack. Not much I can do since he's 600 miles away. But luckily he can use his phone in ICU so we can text each other.
My damn house still hasn't sold and I've missed many opportunities because of it.
I will probably have to have my girl Pita put to sleep in the next week or so. I'm holding off since I have to have some dental work this week (which I seriously despise) and can't handle both things at once. She's not in any pain and is happy as can be, but has stopped eating all together most days and is getting weak. Sigh.
And the dreaded dental work. Makes me ill just thinking about it. I hate the dentist no end.
3 people owe me lots of money and all of them seem to think it's ok to go on vacations, buy cars, spend money on their kids, etc, instead of paying me back!! WTF.

Now to level the playing field -
I'm healthy.
The sun is shining, the sky is blue.
It's cold out so I can wear my favorite boots and skinny jeans one more time til fall.
I have a good job, a nice vehicle, lots of family and friends, live in a great town.
Not feeling like that makes things even but it's a start.

(Really, you can just ignore all that. No need for hugs or comments. I'm cool. Just like to see things written out. Makes it easier to deal with sometimes.)
Seriously I'm all : )

I'm mostly okay with those, but I desperately wished for a different person to ring up my large lingerie purchase at TJ Maxx recently. It's awkward having a guy ring up a whole bunch of panties and bras that are clearly for you. He even commented how I was having a lingerie party.

Hahaha!

I'm glad I'm not alone with feeling embarrassed about some things.

I suppose it's how some men feel when they come into work asking for the price of Viagra and Cialis.

Thinking of which I had the most amusing conversation with a man the other day. At the time he was annoying the hell out of me bit afterwards it was funny.

A guy comes rushing into the pharmacy, bear in mind there was a language barrier:

Him: do you have any long lasting?
Me: long lasting what?
Him: long lasting!
Me: what's it for?
Him: I need long lasting.
Me: ok is it for a headache?
Him: long lasting
Me: write it down and he writes long lasting.
Me: is it for erectile problems?
Him: yes
Me: *checks shelves* we don't have any Stud 100 in.
Him: long lasting!
Me: here's our phone number, phone during the week some should be in by Wednesday.
Him: do you have any log lasting?

Omg. I swear down that's real!

Now, see, I would probably crack up if they asked me, so I suppose it's a matter of projection in my case (the embarrassment factor, that is).

hmmmm... okay, shipping rhubarb will be more expensive than i thought! using an approximation of Cleveland since that's where scrills and ninja are close to, it would cost me $17.20 to send a 1-pound package and it would take up to 4 days!

something wrong with that picture...
