What would it take for the management of NC.com to practice what it preaches. Would an expose on CNN work? Or maybe a guest appearance on the Daily Show? Or a wave of YouTube bloggers making sure the actions and management's subsequent reactions are known to all parties invested?

OMG, the birds are NOT giving up!!!! i've had to take the nest down a third time already and i just caught them sitting up there getting ready to start rebuilding. they are trying to nest where the downspout starts down under the eaves. it's a nice place for them because it's protected on one side by the power source for my air conditioner right below.

i have a triangular piece of plastic that was supposed to go in the recycling bin, but i think if i wedge it in there, it will prevent them from getting in... it's worth a try!

OK well I had never seen the wile coyote poster posting here from the time I posted my Trayvon thread until her post on the fish oil thread which I assumed had been very recent as today was the first time I noticed that thread. I had assumed she'd gotten time out like Nina Dog. I get why Redcatwaves jumped in there but I still don't think it was an appropriate comment or appropriate place to post it.

Me you the world may not care about this wile coyote whatever troll (I say troll because that's how I see at this point regardless of how long she's been here, how many friends she has etc.). It's a thread where people were talking about health issues of all things cmon. Who it was you called out is not the point. It's the railroading of everything else to entertain your hububs just like you did on my Trayvon thread. I think the signature debate was actually a good one to have, but I now very much suspect the legitimacy of some of the posters involved. Were you there to take a stand against racism, or to take a stand against your friend (or ex-friend)? Good case in point - you group the banning of Nina in with the unfair moderating. Well, Nina was one of wile coyote's staunch defenders....
I mean this in the most respectful, non-condescending way possible, this goes waaaaaaay back. There is a lot of history in what you saw in the thread you started.

I think some people were being nasty and I if you look spoke out against them all but I felt like nastiness started out of sheer frustration b/c several people tried to explain why Ninja was wrong to keep basically saying the same stuff over and over. (Sorry I got her name wrong - I *knew* it was Ninja but thought I saw it as Nina somewhere.) I know I kept putting my head down each time like ah man... I was over at 4a (not posting) and people were venting but I didn't see anyone get nasty till Ninja came over there. Ah wells it's in the past. I don't want to start something. I get a little edgy where matters like race are concerned. I don't like to see personal vendettas all up in it if you know what I mean. No, I don't know the backstory, but I having the feeling from what I see today and from what others keep saying that the issues with Wile go far back. I understand that, but I don't like to see past fights or whatever overshadow the seriousness of Wile's offense. I hope you are not just using this to stick it to her rather than you are seriously concerned about that kind of language being used.
One of my closest friends, for over 30 years, has a 15 year old daughter that's killing me! She's so beautiful and smart but she is not acting like it at all. She recently went through her "first love" and has since gone crazy. She has been in 8 other "relationships" in 3 months and is now posting her phone number, address and picture on any site she can find. Along with the sig, "call me, if you like me". She is also continuously posting pictures on a FB page, full of idiots who do nothing but comment about how ugly she is. Every time they make a negative comment about her glasses, tell her she's fat, ugly, and has disgusting hair (none of which are true) she thanks them for their honesty and attempts to change what they didn't like about her. Then she posts another pic... rinse and repeat. I'm worried about her and I've tried talking to her, many times, about self respect and being careful. I've also talked to her mom, who is a single mother who works long hours in the medical profession. Im at a loss.

I don't plan on reading any of the recent problematic threads, but I find it pretty amusing that there are arguments in a thread about fish oil. Only on NC. : )

I wasn't following the threads about Trayvon Martin, because I've been reading about it on another site. I didn't know anything about this until I saw RCW's signature, and later saw that it was censored. When I made that post upthread, I didn't even realize the full extent of this.

I'm digging through it now, and I wish I could say I'm shocked. But I've seen even more-explicit racism get a free pass from the mods -- the kind of stuff you'd expect to see on neo-nazi sites.

Racism is fine, but one mustn't be rude! (Oh and btw racism is perfectly polite and not rude at all.)
And this is why many Black women come here to amuse themselves and "see" their friends, but refuse to drop money in CurlMart and buy direct from Black-owned businesses instead.

See, I don't get that either. Why is it bad for someone to say, "Your post is racist/sexist/homophobic?" The offending posts get defended as just someone's opinion, but calling it out as wrong is rude. I guess we're all supposed to be aloof and turn a blind eye to it...smh.

I've never bought anything from CurlMart, but the management's take on this situation surely isn't inducing me to spend any money in the future. If all they gleaned from the TM thread was "Quoting people in your siggy without permission is bad," then they seriously misread the situation.

I consider this unacceptable.

Well, I've decided. On Wednesday I'm gonna drop in on my friend in Boston. He's gonna be so surprised! I need to think up other things to check out in the meanwhile, though. I figure I can take the train there early in the morning and be there early to mid afternoon, then I'll go check out the restaurant and have dinner there, which means I'll have a couple hours to kill in between.
Not that there's anyone in Boston I could meet or anything . . .
