Thanks everyone for your worries! Still all locked up tight. I'm alone in our suite of offices but it's a 6 story building so there are other people around. I'm in charge of the front door. My friend Gary is in charge of the back door. We've decided we just won't let anyone in we don't like, even if they aren't the gunman. : )

You're at Allegheny College? That story is all over the news here.

The boyfriend had to call the cops this afternoon. He's a landscaping contractor and one of his landscaping jobs is up by the college and someone had jimmied open one of the sheds. He didn't even go in and check, just called the cops and got out of the way.

You know, it'd be nicer if TV execs weren't so concerned purely with what boys like, but this is still pretty sweet:

"Some Nickelodeon executives were worried, says Konietzko, about backing an animated action show with a female lead character. Conventional TV wisdom has it that girls will watch shows about boys, but boys won’t watch shows about girls. During test screenings, though, boys said they didn’t care that Korra was a girl. They just said she was awesome."
Right. So the TPTB don't seem to be addressing the elephant in the room.

This means any race discussion from this point forward is going to be even more fraught with tension.

Great.
I keep getting new "likes" at the top of my page, but I can't for the life of me figure out what they're from! I'm going crazy here!

I've checked every post I've made within the last like week. Nothin.

Interesting how this show appeals to people of different ages.
^Not Korra's story. Legend of Korra is the follow-up to Avatar: The Last Airbender. It premiered Saturday morning. ATLA was an amazing show and LoK continues that. Female lead of color, doesn't look like a twig, cocky, silly, brave, kicks serious butt, and lots more. The show is going to be exploring the concept of privilege, basically, using benders vs. non-benders.

I find the need to classify animation as something for kids to be silly and off-base and think some of the best TV shows (of any kind) are animated, so I'm not surprised that LoK pulled out some huge numbers this weekend.
Really, it's kind of a thankless medium. It takes a lot of work, time, and talent, and is pretty expensive, yet it doesn't get taken seriously by many people. LoK's animation is incredible, by the way, and hand-drawn, which is not that common anymore.

(And a huge chunk of people had already seen the premiere! More chatter generated than the Mad Men season premiere. )

So with every step, she smacked the carrier into her leg, and it caused it to rotate, rapidly, away from her body.

Do people even think?
Saria I agree about animation. I just wanted to like your post but I'm on my phone.
