People complained it wasn't consistent from what I recall, not that there wasn't enough.

I didn't get the idea that people thought there wasn't enough moderation, just that the moderation of a certain issue seemed...selective.

That would be very unfortunate, since the discussion has been nothing but civil. It has been pretty awful to see threads getting locked and deleted simply because members a trying to have discussions with one another to sort out what's happening.

Not a single person complained that there wasn't enought moderation, just that it wasn't consistent. Tptb either didn't understand the difference or...

If a conversation is started regarding the way moderation was handled, then it was deleted because one of the rules is to not publicly discuss the way moderation is handled on the forum. That's not a new rule. It has always been there, but it wasn't enforced before. The preferred method is that members discuss their issues or concerns through PM to a moderator or an administrator.

Many of the rules that are being enforced aren't new. They were not enforced as they should have been. I am not sure if anyone reviewed the rules we had previously, but 90% of them are the same. The difference now is that they are being consistently enforced. In an effort to be consistent the mods are enforcing all of the rules and trying not to overlook anything, which created a lot of the problem in the past. Since the atmosphere was so lax prior to incidents in the last few weeks it looks like moderation is petty and overdone. Things will eventually level off as people understand the guidelines will be enforced, but it may take a couple of weeks.
