You're right, people weren't asking for more moderation. They were asking for consistency.
How do you get consistency? You enforce each and every rule out there for each and every person, no tolerance. How do you make that possible for a message board with thousands of members that spans pretty much every time zone? You get more moderators.
Again, this is what people asked for. Now, it's here, and it's TOO much moderation? Sheesh. Someone was right when they said ruling the world would be easier than moderating here, lol.
I think it's still too soon to see how all of this will pan out, and given that it looks like stuff happened over the weekend after the changes were in place, it will be interesting to say the least.

...and they were asking for the OP to clarify/explain/give an account for her words...as if she was obligated to do that. When it was clear she wasn't interested in stickin' around for her trial, then what was the next point of contention: The moderators, and how they handled the signature issue and time out for a particular member. A few said consistency wasn't the issue.
So, I'm confused by the "We didn't want more moderation" position. In order to get consistency, more moderation is needed.

Honestly, if
1) the orginal comment had been handled with more than a "come back and explain"
2) the original comment hadn't been carried to other threads by the orginator
3) other ppl hadn't gotten in trouble
than we wouldn't have an issue.
I get what you guys are saying. i'm trying to be careful as to not get this thread locked. yes, they are being consistant now. But about that the comment that even started it all, why does that get a free pass? I think that's the issue.
If the change had been everthing, plus that post, I don't think there would have been as much of an issue. It just seemed like one person got a pass on the stepped up moderation
So, as you've helped to come to realize, consistency wasn't the issue. I guess I go back to #1. If that had been done, I think things would be different now. but hey, they aren't. Lesson learned I guess
(dear mods, I'm not judging your actions, just saying what might have made a difference. but again, hindsight is 20/20)

Scrills,
Whoa, how timely! I just started a thread in Feedback for questions that can be asked of the mods. Please move your post there if you don't mind. We will be more than happy to answer your question there.

Good evening all,
we have opened a thread in the Feedback section where members may post questions and concerns regarding moderator actions to the moderators. We understand that you have may want clarification, have suggestions, etc., and ask that you post them there.

I don't mean this to be a mod gripe at all, or mod feedback - it's just an observation. Has anyone else noticed there are at least 2 mods logged in at all times or all the times I've visited anyway? I wonder if they're actually here here b/c IDK how they all get any sleep! It's usually the same 2 or 3 I've seen. I hope they're paying yall now because even if I had the time and it was a place I adored, I couldn't spend that much in one place! It's a curiousity thing on my part. I for one can't spend more than an hour on a computer without stepping away for awhile though. I also can't deal with iphone ipads whatever. Give me an ol' school 17 inch monitor - thank you! I am glad to see the mods and know they're here, but dang ya'll are getting a workout.

This isn't meant as a question for the mods which is why I'm not posting on feedback, but just to clarify, again, because people keep missing this...
No one wanted more moderation. Why would we, since the whole thing started because of a mod's actions? The whole thread was basically about a mod randomly making up a rule (which is now an official rule, because somehow tptb got the message that that was the problem) and people reacting to that.

that has happened to me. I was called in NJ right after I moved to Ohio. I just called the number on the notice and let them know I'd moved. I didn't even have to provide proof of the move.

I don't want to sound like a suck up here but I did want to say I appreciate the fast spam-catching or whatever you want to call it. There still is spam, but I notice it getting picked off faster. I'm still getting used to seeing more moderation happening. Like some of the others, I felt there was plenty already, but this is a positive part of more modding that I wanted to point out (I put this here instead of the feedback section because it doesn't require a response - just another observation.).

Bah. I had to work late today, and it's beautiful and I'm missing it.
Why did I have to work late?
Well, I showed up at the Post Office at 7:40, expecting to use the self-service postage center in the lobby. Of course, it was broken so I had to wait until the desk opened at 8:00.
They finally opened at 8:12. And then, the woman actually behind the desk was moving like molasses. The two people in front of me were both mailing small, domestic packages and yet somehow it took 10 minutes to get both of them through.
Nothing like spending 40 minutes at the post office instead of the intended 3.
You'd think, that with the problems the USPS having, they'd do something to make people WANT to go there. The UPS store down the street also opens at 8:00, and I'd bet they open ON TIME. Just saying.

I had a similar experience with the P.O. once. They opened late and then took their good ole time moving too...

I really hope this place does not explode.
I lurk more than post (my average seems to be ~100 posts a year, LOL), but I've spent 8.5 years hanging around here.
My other internet haven is Runner's World, where spammers have recently discovered a significant flaw in the forum software they use, meaning that the forum is completely overrun with spam and we just have to deal with it until they migrate to a new system, which could take a while.
My internet world is kind of crumbling. It will be weird if I have to find new forums to haunt after all this time.

Mr. Spring just left on the first ride on his new motorcycle. I'm terrified.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

I wonder if John Edwards is still with the Rielle woman. I'm sorry but she does not look good for late 30s early 40s (DK her exact age). I see her name is trending on yahoo so there must be something goin on but I can't be bothered to get into all that trial mess.
