Hmm. Both of them are ruined for me, because I watched them on the horrible 90210 remake. They definitely aren't the greatest actors out there.
Let's just ignore that part where I said I watched the 90210 remake, k? Haha it was like a train wreck... I couldn't look away!

Oy. This was a weekend jam-packed with "family fun." And eating. Lots of eating. Don't get me wrong... I love both of those things! But at some point it got overwhelming.
The last hurrah was this morning, for my cousin's first communion. Usually, I don't mind going to Catholic mass. I actually kind of enjoy it - it's a break from our usual Sunday routine, even though I do kind of feel out of place! But wow... Today, it really seemed to DRAG, for some reason!
The good news: the party afterwards was at a delish pizza place, with wood-fired pizza!

I also pictured Finnick with more delicate facial features. He read like the "pretty boy" type to me, as opposed to ruggedly handsome, especially since he was supposed to have the same type of attractiveness at 14.
That line in that song from Pocahontas about hearing the wolf cry to the blue corn moon may make sense after all! Maybe it still doesn't, but I can make it fit in my head! The full moon in August is called the green corn moon or the grain moon, and a blue moon is the second full moon in a month that has two (not a moon that is actually the color blue) - so put the two together and you get an oddly specific line about a wolf howling on a very specific night in a special year when August had two full moons. Even if this was a thing that the songwriters planned out rather than just something I'm randomly tossing out an explanation for based on factoids I just read, it still doesn't work because how on earth would Pocahontas know the months of the Roman calendar? Anyway, trivia is fun.

Wild_sasparilla, I posted on FB about how people are already throwing a hissy fit because Jesse Williams is supposedly the top contender for the role. So, the race wank has begun.
Of all the candidates, he's the best one to me. The eyes and skin tone are perfect for the role and so are his facial features. They can dye his hair.
Other than that, I like Garrett Hedlund.

Heh. I'm watching TRON: Legacy right now. Headland is pretty good looking, and I think he can pull off 'former Victor.'
If people are upset about a non-white Finnick, what will they think when they figure out he was bi-pimped?
I did picture him as white while reading, maybe because I got stereotypical with the surname. But, Williams is very good looking. I've never watched Grey's Anatomy though. I know nothing about his acting.

I haven't watched that mess in forever, but I always thought the actors on it were pretty good, so I imagine he's not a bad one.
I pictured him as white, and sun-bathed but there's no reason he couldn't be mixed. People who insist that he be white as can be are questionable, to put it mildly.

Yeah, I see no reason to insist on it. Those folks are just being stupid Only his eye and hair colors were mentioned.
I picture Wiress and Beetee as Asian. I wonder who will play them?
Will they really get an octogenarian for Mags, or will it be a 30 year old aged up? Questions, questions.

I'm sure they'll leave that little bit out. It's be too bad if they do. It was what made him so tragic. Maybe not tragic but, IDK. Gave the character so much more depth.

I'm really glad I put that crappy cookie sheet underneath my pie.
Cleaning all of that ooze out of my oven would suck.

I'm always surprised this isn't standard practice for everyone.

Ooh, that Jesse Williams sure is purdy! I'm having a hard time picturing him with more hair than the close-cropped cut he has in all the google images, but I'm sure he could pull off whatever style and color with that face. Since Finnick's skin was only ever described as "golden," I think he could be anywhere in the tan/brown range. I also pictured him as a tan white dude, but as a freaking sane person, I have no issue with him being played by a mixed-race guy who smolders like this:
Garrett Hedlund is great, too. He's got that slight surfer dude look to me in his facial expressions that Finnick had in my head. It doesn't show in this picture, but it's a similar pose to the one I picked for Jesse and I like it:
And I could definitely see this picture aged down just a bit more as 14-year-old bebeh!Finnick:
Thank goodness there's been no more Zac Effron talk. *shudder*

Ooh, Garrett Hudland is almost exactly what I pictures for Finnick- tanned and pretty, kind of the stereotypical California boy.

I looked at Armie Hammer again because people keep talking about how good-looking he is and I have never really seen it. I start to feel as if I'm in some bizarro world because at best he's an average to slightly above-looking dude with the most boring, Wonder Bread type of good looks possible. I. Do. Not. Understand.

Was that talk a joke? Because, well, seriously? Casting him would be soooooooooooooo wrong.
Why do you think they'll probably leave put the bi-pimping (great term by the way)?

In other news, I am sick. Unlike whoever got me sick when I went to the courthouse on Thursday (and I KNOW it was then, because I've been a freaking recluse lately), I am going to be all about the hand sanitizer and taking care not to breathe on people. Uggghhh, I feel like crap and I don't want to do stuff.
If I didn't feel so crummy, I'd hope to be voir dire-d really early in the day so I could share my insurmountable bias and be released and use my one-day bus pas to go have fun around town, but the last thing I want to do right now is drag my pestilent carcass all over the place, so no bus adventures.
On the plus side, I just packed myself a lunch and snacks and I think I'm more than prepared to eat my way through the breaks now. I don't want to risk getting my copy of A Raisin in the Sun all bent, so it looks like I'll have to take it out, but I'll have my phone to play with instead.
Teehee...there are Yelp reviews of the courthouse. "Sure I'll be back, kind of have to show up when summoned. It is the law."

I did my first open-water swim race of the season on Saturday ... 3 miles in 1:37:48 I won my age group. The current was KILLER at the end, and then I sprinted to shore because there was a woman on my tail and I didn't want her to catch me. Now onto the Chesapeake Bay Swim in 5 weeks!

It so happens that June 7 (the day he changes the menu) is a Thursday, so that looks to be the day.
