A good quality to have. I just expect people to act in their best interests most of the time, I guess. Most people really do try to avoid going through unnecessary trouble.

I haven't been to the laundromat in years but I used to kind of enjoy it. My sister and I would go and we'd sometimes..uhhh...have some herbal refreshment...and then eat everything in the vending machines. : )

The boyfriend called tonight from the laundromat. He does huge loads in those giant washers and his machine decided to get stuck in the rinse cycle and he couldn't get it to stop. Had to call the maintenance guy and it took about an hour for him to get there and get it shut down, all the while the clothes are just rolling around in the washer. It was sort of funny.

And spring!!!! How did my parents furniture get on craigslist without them knowing!!!! : )

When in happened to a friend of mine, it was a load of her lingerie. Seriously, used bras and panties stolen right out of the washer. At first she thought someone took it out because they were pissed that the cycle finished and she was nowhere to be found, but she checked every dryer, basket, trash bin, and nothing.

People also steal detergent and dryer sheets.

We had to go to the laundromat several times when we first moved here while we waited on our washer/dryer to be delivered. It wasn't so bad because there was free wi-fi at least.

When I worked on the ship bras and underwear kept going missing! They eventually found it all in some guys cabin. We all got pulled into the Staff Captains office to sort through it and claim our stuff....we just left it all

This was not the first day off I planned. I only slept one sound hour, after working all night. Thank you to my cousin for scraping the road with a tractor at 10am. I've been in a occasional napping coma since 8pm and one of my eyes is now swelling shut. All I can say is, "oh blah".

I'm in my 30s, I've had teeth removed and braces. I suffer from depression.

I'm doomed to be old and haggard before the end of the year.

CL, I think you're giving yourself too much credit thinking you'll make it to the end of the year!

CL it's ok because you didn't marry young and have babies. It evens out.

Oooooh, Laundromat talk. The one in my town gives me the heebie-jeebies'! When I was a teen our dryer had burnt out, and at that point my parents didn't have extra funds for a new one. We spent the winter months going to the laundromat and got to know the attendant, well. She was a very nice woman, with a beautiful 4 year old daughter who often came to work with her on nights. She had recently split from her abusive husband, and her sister would come pick her daughter up around 8pm. One night the sister couldn't make it so we offered to take her daughter to another family members home. No more than 30 min after we left her husband showed up and shot her, in the face. He then killed himself. It was horrible! Bless her heart, she survived, but was badly disfigured. I don't know how many times I thought about what might have happened, if we hadn't taken that little girl somewhere else. Still gives me chills.

It was, but she is an amazing and strong woman. She recovered, and had a couple reconstructive surgeries. They did the best they could, at that time. I kid you not, she went back to work at the laundromat while going to school. I could not! She eventually graduated, got a better job, and moved.

okay, new rule: if you say that you hate reading, you should stop existing.

I despise people who act like picking up a book is a huge deal. Hating books is nothing to be proud of.

Wow Fifi what a story. Crazy. What a blessing that little girl wasn't there to witness it.

Absolutely! The idea of what might have been horrified me. I was just getting ready to add, her daughter was a incredibly beautiful, well adjusted, straight A student when they moved. She was around 12 or 13. We always kept tabs on them. The mother had several years of problems. Physical, and dealing with the emotional, but when she came back around she faced her fears head on. She said she needed to do it, put the past behind her, and then move on. That's exactly what she did.

If I had to use a Laundromat I would leave my clothes to. When I was in uni dorms we had these very nice, brand new flats. Our building had 3 floors, so 3 flats to it (with gigantic ensuite bedrooms - it was very nice!) and ours had a little laundry room on the ground floor. Its had two washing machines and two dryers lol. Some people use to sit in there but I just dumped my stuff and came back roughly when it should be finished. Only one time did someone touch my stuff and all they did was remove my washed clothes from the machine and dump them in the dryer so they could use it. I didn't really mind. You could be waiting hours sometimes for someone to come back and get their stuff.

Its was my mini, Cornwall version of your NY Laundromats!

Default Laundromats

At my first duty station (Fairchild AFB, WA) people would steal clothes out of the washers/dryers in the dorm laundromat. Pretty lame.
