I love my air conditioner.

I hope the former owner doesn't come looking for it when he gets out of the pokey.

CIBC! STOP telling your mother things like this. There are some mothers who are "tell everything" mothers who will listen to your worries and concerns and make constructive suggestions and give you sympathy and positive reinforcement. Your mother is not one of those, and never will be. It is what it is, and continuing to act as if she is one when she isn't will only keep leading you to disappointment - it won't change her into that mother.

I also doubt you are getting fired - I can't see them waiting that long. If you were enough of a liability to warrant being fired, they wouldn't be likely to give you another week to continue to be a liability. Perhaps the meeting on Friday has nothing to do with your mistakes and has to do with something else altogether.

That being said, I'd prepare for Friday's meeting on the assumption that it is about your mistakes and even if it isn't, I'd raise the issue. My biggest mistake at work turned into my biggest asset and a great story for job interviews and for my reference to raise because of the way I turned it around, and here's what I did in case this is helpful for you.

Prepare for the meeting. (I requested one but you already have one, so go with that.) Review your mistake/s and be brutally honest. Why did you make the mistakes? What were things within your control and what were things others controlled or contributed to? Were you dealing with personal issues and have those been resolved, or how can they be resolved? Have you had similar situations before, and what worked for you to allow you to do a good job?

In the meeting, be proactive and assertive - this is not the time to try to be sweet or nice. Allow your boss to have their say, but when an opening presents itself, say that you'd like to talk about some things that have happened. Admit and take responsibility for the mistakes you made, say you are not happy because you know you can do better and you know it has this specific negative effect on the work your place of employment does.

Give the reasons why you made the mistake and how you will fix them / know not to do them again. If someone else is involved, don't blame them or deflect the problem onto them. Ie. if your supervisor didn't give you proper instructions, say "I am someone who needs really clear and direct written instructions when I'm learning a new job, and this worked really well for me in my last job, so I'm going to make it a priority to schedule daily/weekly meetings with my supervisor to ask her for instructions and make sure I write them down." Make sure you stay positive, and finish up with a positive anecdote of something you did well - "I also thought you might want to know that I placated a difficult client / finished cataloguing those files you asked me about", etc. and say how much you enjoy working there and thank your boss for her time.

Good luck!

Kind of annoyed.

All I've had from my friend is one text saying she has kidney infection and nothing else, and has ignored my text and email about our travel plans Friday and if she is well enough to go.

I'm at work all day tomorrow and if she can't go I'm going to have to figure out what I'm doing since was going up in car with her.

My kids are all, what do you want to do today? What do you want to do today, mom?

Well lets see, I just made you lunch, now I have to clean up after lunch, you need new sheets on your bed,the cat just puked and I have to clean that up, and I need to vacuum! I'm doing it! There just isn't enough time in the day, I swear.

Another sick day. Time to get my head out of my bunghole and accept that it is back and I need to change my diet.

Today is better. My dad texted last night to let me know it went ok at the vet. He got to spend some extra time with her so that was good. I'm glad she is no longer in pain. My other dog is totally lonely and confused though. He goes from whining to pacing to following me everywhere. Poor boy. He misses his BFF.

OK. All I can say to that is:

So sorry to hear about your dog, Jess. I lost my old girl back in March, and I still miss her so hard and think about her every day. We were very luckily able to have a vet come to the house when it was time, because there was no way I was going to be able to take her into the office myself either.

I still have my big dumb boy dog, and the new girl we adopted has fit in flawlessly with all of us, and I just love her. But the space left by my old beast will never be completely filled. She was absolutely my sidekick.

Well, my boss just emailed the webmaster to put my name on the website.

I doubt they'd do that if they didn't intend on keeping me.
