I always enjoy the opening ceremonies, even when they are boring and stupid. I still find most of it exciting and interesting and love seeing all the people from so many places I will never go to. It also makes me realize I do not no my geography at all and don't know where most of those countries. are.

My lovely Saturday cooking frenzy got interrupted for a bit when my house got involved in a flash flood. Damn storms and tornadoes. Go away.
And also,
Dear Firetruck drivers,
When you see me standing in the flood trying to slow traffic down so they don't keep pushing more water into my house, don't drive a hundred miles an hour, thus forcing me to RUN so I don't get knocked down by the wave of water you threw 10 feet in the air. Seriously, you are effheads.
Sincerely,
a seriously p1ssed off Jeepy

I liked NBC's map that highlighted where the countries were. I'm not terrible at geography, but it definitely helped.

I like the opening cermonies, too. They always have their cheesy moments and the moments that give you goosebumps. I thought the torch made of the copper petals was GORGEOUS. Really, really beautiful.

Do you ever think Queen Elizabeth finds her life surreal? I mean, the national anthem is "God Save the Queen." If I were sung that song by little school children, I'd either bawl my eyes out or think it was intensely creepy. I guess after 60 years, it wouldn't be a big deal for her, but I was thinking last night that it must be so. darn. weird.

ETA: I'm so sad that they didn't work a Dalek or TARDIS in there somehow. Also, did anyone else kinda hope Sir Paul would show up, sing, "And in the end/the love you take/is equal to the love you make/ahhhhhhhh", bow, then leave? I obviously knew he showed up for more than that, but it would've be so funny!

As much as I love cinnamon I did not want to end up wearing it this morning after the can of TJ's cinnamon rolls exploded all over me as I opened it.

I was sad I couldn't lick my own face.

I think I'm going to try and get tickets for the Dark Knight Rises today. I am going alone. I haven't seen a movie alone in a very long time. Not since Inception I think. Shrug, life.

I hate you Chris Nolan! (j/k)

Boyfriends mom, who has MS, had a seizure, and is in the hospital.

I don't know if I feel more bad for her, or the kids. Their dad died of a brain tumor when they were younger, and I know bf is freaking out. Hope everything works out okay.

My kids are home so I couldn't go with him, which leaves me home, feeling helpless, and cooking.
