Oh no! I hate when that happens. Would earplugs help?? Those were my saving grace when my old neighbors would have parties that lasted to 4 am!!

OMGOMGOMG! Watch this!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9Avq8QPUO8

(CE, there is hipster and cultural appropriation smackdown within!)

Speaking of cultural appropriation, I love that someone summed up Natalie Portman so well:

Quote:
as for why i don’t like natalie portman, well, she’s culturally appropriative and tries very hard to seem intelligent but is really not

she says things like ‘recession is such an exciting time for us, an opportunity for change’ as if it’s a the plot of some new movie and not something that’s causing people to suffer

she wears bindis without understanding their cultural value, like she’s some hipster on tumblr.

and overall is just a really annoying person.
This one is really good, too:

The nex time I see some goober on Facebook say that gay marriage rights should be a states' rights issue, I want to say, "That's what they said about slavery, and guess what? They were wrong about that, too."

1st day in tech support and I love it already. Someone has a nerf gun, and they shoot it at people, someone brought in donuts, I was told we get lunch twice a week, and the people on this side are chill and funny. I feel right at home, I know there will be days I want to bang my head against the table but I like it here! So much better than working the front desk.

The reasons why the Chinese swimmer is under suspicion:

Racism
Sexism

That covers it.

Just had great experience #2 with calling a medical office. I was extremely nervous about calling (yes, I know this is irrational, but my brain and nerves never seem to listen to logical reasoning) because I haven't seen a Dr. in.... well, an extremely long time. Now I have an appt. tomorrow and I really hope it goes well so I don't have to start the search over. *crosses fingers*

The girl I spoke with that made my appt. was so incredibly sweet and we share the same name, which I thought was neat.

Lawcy mercy, please let them be able to get rid of what ever the hell this is going on with my ears. I just about can't take it any longer.

Iím guessing the news will never say that* Gabrielle Douglas*had the lead score and was the main reason why the US won gold for the*Gymnastics. Nobody ever gives Black people their credit.

She outscored everyone on the US team on beam, bars, and vault. She was the only team member to compete on all 4 events. But yes, NBC, keep telling us how unfair it is that Wieber didnít make the all-around.

riiiight. i was waiting and waiting to hear who scored the highest and they didnít say ****. i knew it had to be Gabby because they would have given her all the credit if it was one of them white girls.

the commentatorsí treatment of Ms. Douglas in the face of the judgesí lack of bias is really telling.

Mike Huckabee wouldn't care:

I have been incensed at the vitriolic assaults on the Chick Fil-A
company because the CEO, Dan Cathy, made comments recently in which he affirmed his view that the Biblical view of marriage should be upheld. The Cathy family, led by Chick Fil-A founder Truett Cathy, are a wonderful Christian family who are committed to operating the company with Biblical principles and whose story is the true American success story. Starting at age 46 Truett Cathy built Chick Fil-A into a $4 billion a year enterprise with ...
over 1600 stores. At 91, he is still active in the company, but his son Dan runs it day to day as CEO.It's a great American story that is being smeared by vicious hate speech and intolerant bigotry from the left.

The Chick Fil-A company refuses to open on Sundays so that their employees can go to church if they wish. Despite the pressure from malls, airports, and the business world to open on Sundays, they still don't. They treat customers and employees with respect and dignity.

I ask you to join me in speaking out on Wednesday, August 1 "Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day.” No one is being asked to make signs, speeches, or openly demonstrate. The goal is simple: Let's affirm a business that operates on Christian principles and whose executives are willing to take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1. Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm
traditional values, we're considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant. This effort is not being launched by the Chick Fil-A company and no one from the company or family is
involved in proposing or promoting it.

There's no need for anyone to be angry or engage in a verbal battle. Simply affirm appreciation for a company run by Christian principles by showing up on Wednesday, August 1 or by participating online – tweeting your support or sending a message on Facebook.

PLEASE RSVP IF YOU PLAN ON PARTICIPATING AT A CHICK FIL-A OR ONLINE.

What is the allergen that was so prevalent yesterday, yet almost absent today? To what should I attribute this random pressure/release, pressure/release?

I don't think it's racism. I think it's ethnocentrism. Countries in the West, in particular the USA, have this idea that no one could ever be better, faster, and/or stronger than them. So for a 16 year old school girl to come in and blow the entire team USA, men and women, out of the water is just unfathomable to them.

I think there are element of that, but I also think its good old-fashioned racism, because Asian people can't be spectacular athletes! Unless it's wimpy sports like ribbon-twirling or something!

Today is a good day. It is a new door opening for me.

Yesterday was the last day I will ever waitress. I've been telling myself since I was 14, that I will not be a waitress when I turn 30. I will be turning 29 in October.

Our lunch delivery business is up and running and we have been approached to do property management. Things are heading in a wonderful new direction, and I feel really good about it!

I think a glass or two of wine is in order... Who's joining me?
