Unrelated to prior posts . . . I don't get why everyone takes vacation time in the summer.
I'd always take vacation during the most miserable time of the year: winter. That's when I want to get the hell out of dodge, preferably to somewhere warm, sunny, and green. And not during the holidays, either, but during the months when it really starts to drag --- January and February!

Lots of people have kids. It's easier to take vacation when school is out.

since i don't go out in the sun HERE, i'm not going to be spending money to go someplace warm and sunny in the winter when i'll just be hanging out in the A/C there!

Yeah, but I'm talking about people who don't have kids or whose kids don't live with them anymore. It occurred to me because everyone at this job is either coming back from vacation or leaving for vacation. All of them this time of year.

But to be fair, people who go for vacation now don't go to places with cool climates. They're either going to the beach or other warm places that might be cooler, but the weather is still distinctly summery.

Yeah, once I graduate, I'd prefer to vacation during the colder months! I actually really like my city in the summer... Winter, not so much!

But, for the moment, the busy season for my mom's job is September - June. So, a January or February vacation isn't too feasible if I want to go with my family! Her job is actually the only thing that kept us from traveling any time of the year when we were kids... We could do our school from anywhere!

Plus really, it's an awesome feeling to go away on vacation and come back refreshed when everyone is feeling the winter doldrums. Heh.

My dream summer vacation is an Alaskan cruise or a trip to Scotland. Anything to get away from the heat!

Y'all are making me miss that vacation we took a couple years ago. I wish we had made it two weeks instead of one, there just wasn't enough time to do everything. Maine in the Fall is just so pretty. And that little house we stayed at was so great. They had Mrs. Meyers lavender scented hand soap in the bathroom and that's what we use now and every time I use it that scent takes me right back there. I never even liked lavender before.

I'm sitting here procrastinating (what, me? noooo, never) and working myself into a tizzy of nerves, but y'all are a wonderful distraction. Please keep chattering for the next few hours.

Summer is slow for us, so it's easiest for people to take vacation then. The morning crew is having four day work weeks in July and August.

February is our busiest sales month, and Super Bowl Saturday is our busiest day of the year. No one gets that day off. People here eat a lot in the winter!

springy, it's going to be okay. Remember, if they aren't nice or you just feel uncomfortable, you can always leave. And doctors are now on Angie's List, so you could read referral information there if you get a membership (maybe your local library has one).

For me, there's 3 types of vacation I'd prefer to take:

Vacation 1: Caribbean in our winter (or potentially some other warm place if I didn't want a vacation centred around extended family)

Vacation 2: Travel to a place to sight-see that also happens to be warm in our winter time (i.e. South America, Africa)

Vacation 3: Travel to a place to sight-see that is on opposite seasons to me (i.e. Australia) during their summer, which is our winter

Vacation 4: Travel to a place to sight-see that is on the same seasons as me (Europe, US etc.) during our and their summer

Vacation 5: Kick around here in the summer and enjoy the beach and parks

1-3 are winter vacations, 4 and 5 are not. I think people who have summer cabins or are into the beach, camping and outdoors stuff prefer summer vacations. It's also when kids are out of school and families can spend time (can't always pull kids out for winter vacations.) It's also a chance for people to work on their house and yard.

I agree, I want to take a vacation in February or March.

Although I may make plans to 'go away' when my kids are on break, it wouldn't be what I'd call 'vacation'

We head to Maine in the summer. Get my New England fix and then we usually go in Nov to Aruba. I would like to go in Feb but I am too cheap to pay high season prices!!

Thank you, deenie.

I'm a rational person, but for some reason my nerves get the better of me with stuff like this and I have to talk myself down. I want to be wired differently when it comes to stuff like this. This is definitely something I'd change about myself if I could.

On a positive note Mr. Spring had a clinic appt. today and the guy taking his blood pressure said it's better than a 12 year old. Which immediately led me to respond that I was glad his BP matches his mentality. I mean, how could anyone NOT respond that way?

^ That's hysterical!!

I've been drinking 2 tsp of ACV, mixed in water, for the past several days. It's supposed to help regulate your B/P in a week or two. Fingers crossed that it does because I do not want to go back on medication. That stuff made me feel worse.

Well, I didn't go to bed until 3am, got up at 9, and have waited on my uncle since. He just called to inform me that he isn't coming. Thanks! Glad I've spent half the bleeping day waiting.

I'm so glad several of the letters/numbers on my phone are hardly working now. 2 more weeks until a full upgrade!

Worn out iPhone. Need I say more?
