(((hugs Rou))). I can relate.

My husband died 8 years ago. Tonight I took my daughter to her middle school orientation and showed her the classroom where her dad and I met for the first time 17 years ago. It was a very bittersweet moment for us both.

Holy cow. Add this thing to my ever-growing list of "Things That Looked Really Easy on Pinterest."

That took forever. I'm still not convinced it will last until the morning.

So, I moderate this little group on Facebook and usually it hums along pretty well. Today, though, there was some serious drama. I came in and read a thread that was going off the rails and asked the person I perceived as the instigator to "behave". Apparently, this sent half the group into a tizzy and they are all freaking out. The PM brigade has been going all night and apparently, I'm Satan incarnate.

*headdesk* This is not my day, guys.

I was originally going to talk about how much I dislike music snobbery (and I have a lot of feelings about that, trust me), but then I wondered if I'm being snobby about the type of snobbery that I find acceptable.

the most acceptable snobbery to me is literature snobbery, but then again...is it my place to tell someone that something they like has no value if it makes them happy? especially if it's something harmless, like a book that isn't too well-written. I guess I understand the argument that there is much better literature out there, but why on earth do people care?

but I will never ever understand music snobbery. something else that puzzles me is that almost every music snob I know listens to Radiohead and thinks they're so much better than the rest of the universe because of it. It's like radiohead attracts hipsters, and I have no patience for hipsters.

Tom Daley really is such a cutie, isn't he? his reaction to winning his bronze was the most adorable thing ever. and he has a seventeen-year-old american girlfriend...so there's hope.

Also, this one? I need a real life Miguel to come and reenact this the next time I speak with my brother:

BTW, apparently even those 29 gold medals don't earn my male family members' full respect for female athletes. I overheard my dad say that the US women's overall impressive showing is due to us being "the only ones stupid enough to fund women's sports." So many things wrong with that I can't even - Chel, can I borrow your face for a moment?

Thank you.

Also thank you to the wonderful supportive curlies on this thread! I love our little snarktastic support group.

((((rou))))

Also ((((D)))), I'm glad that you're fine and not in desperate need of hugs, but I must hug you anyway because you deal with your mother on a daily basis and that just...that earns you a hug. Always.

Happy birthday, itsKelCeeEee! I love how your username (at least how I imagine saying it out loud) is kind of a celebration in itself.

TNB, thanks for the rec - I haven't seen Acid-Ease around, but then I haven't been looking. If I do, I'll definitely pick it up.

I've asked one of the pharmacists at work and he says it will stop on its accord because ---- gross info coming up ---- when I blow my nose clots are coming out.

It's not so bad now. It wasn't pouring out my nose but slowly working its way out and it was making me feel sick. You know that burning feeling you get when snot dries in your nose? Dried blood feels the same.

Also unless it was pouring out the NHS won't do anything.

LOL...I showed this story and photo to hubs. He'd seen part of it on TV but didn't know the entire story. So I started to explain it to him:

TNB: "The doggie has arthritis. And, the only way the owner can give him some relief..." then hubs tries to finish the sentence for me...
Hubs: "...is to hug his dog."
TNB: "In a lake?! Uh, no, hun. He's swimming with his dog."
Hubs: "Oh. Well, I didn't know..."

He's the smartest, wisest person I know. Really! Usually...

I think the difference is that with writing there is definitely poor writing and it's not especially hard to pick it out. Music is a lot more subjective and left to interpretation.
I hate music snobs, too, since they basically think people are too stupid to like "good" music.
Speaking of snobbery, I'm sad that Mark re-blogged this piece of **** that I've previously discussed here:

http://lastofthetimeladies.tumblr.co...s-when-i-say-i

I swear I'm trying to pick a tumblr name already just to properly lambaste this pretentious twaddle.
