I'm sure you are both fantastic and wonderful!...and I've already tried that. And, he knows it--he currently has a gf and has had a few over the years. But, they're always short-statured as well, and he hates that he thinks he is limited to only those who are short-statured as well--even though he's really not. My constant retelling of my own true story about how I didn't even notice his dad's stature because I was distracted by his amazing body and that it never was an issue anyway doesn't help either.

It's also not just about "getting the girls." Friends, acquaintances, and strangers always point out stature as well. Even when it's done jokingly, the fact remains that he's short.

Some people are better equipped to deal with "adversity." Unfortunately, he isn't one of them. I fear he's going to be crippled by this--I'm already seeing it.

I hope he's able to heal from that. No one should have to suffer from things beyond his control.

Well that's a shame that he will let that lessen his joy of life. We all have stuff that makes us different. I'm left handed, have a big nose, big curly hair, moles and scars and other physical things that make me very "imperfect" according to some. And yes, people have mentioned those things all my life.
But thankfully I just decided at a fairly early age that it wouldn't get in my way. I hope he does the same in the not too distant future.

ETa I was taller than hubby #2 and Mr Harley. And we never really thought about it when I wore heels that made me even taller. It's a shame that the notion that men have to be taller than women is still around.

Oh, Honeycurls. I am sorry. But it seems like you did the absolute best you could. Unfortunately, you can't fix this. He is an adult now. It is up to him to be happy in his life.

At some point, I would tell him I wasn't going to listen to him complain about it anymore.

Honeycurls you sound like you did all you could. Hopefully as he gets older, he'll start learning to accept his height as part of who he is and not a pitfall.

My boss is a shorter guy and he's attractive, successful, and has a beautiful family. Short guys can have it all too!

Looks like I'm going to be in Pittsburgh from the Saturday before thanksgiving till the Tuesday before.

Also I'm thankful for the three-day weekend- not because I need a break but because I need all this time to do homework. I know that I'd be unhappier and less challenged in easy classes, but it just feels like so much and it's only a week and a half into the school year.

Thanks. I'm really not sure what it's going to take, but he's very stubborn, so it's definitely going to have to come from within.

Right? He has so much else to be thankful for...like that he didn't inherit my metabolism or his dad's lack of intellect, or my family's tendency toward diabetes, or my hormonal issues...and a gajillion other things. He tends to focus on the negative, unfortunately.

...or that men have to be "tall"...period.

Thanks, RC; I've never coddled him about it, and I do try to keep the discussions about it brief. I know him, though, and if I am too abrupt, he's going to take it as that I don't care. He doesn't moon around about it all the time; but every so often it comes up in conversation and I'm reminded of how profoundly it has affected his life--which is what happened yesterday. I've tried umpteen times to impress upon him that it is what it is, we all have faults, that some guys are picked on because they are tall/lanky/fat/unattractive/disfigured/whatever and all he can do is surround himself with those who don't focus on it, be a man of "tall" character, and be the best person he can be irrespective of his height.

I'm just trying to do a little negativity self-purge today. He just emerged from his room and is in a great mood, and seeing his smiling face has lifted my spirits dramatically. So much going wrong in our lives right now, I was hosting a little pity party for myself this morning. Thanks all for the positivity!

Hmmm...why am I taking an Intro to Keyboarding class you ask? Well, typing 81 words a minute is fine and dandy but not at 87% accuracy. Now I'm at a constant 57 wpm and 100% accuracy. I'm unlearning the bad and sloppy habits I've picked up over the years. It's the same reason I retook an entry-level English class again...need to bone up!

Yeah, my exhbd isn't very tall either and it's looking like my little boy might stay a shortie, too.

Not thrilled about this but there are def worst things in life.

I wonder how he's going to take it.

I guess it depends on how short we're talking.

Yeah, I hope your son gets over this. I totally get how you want to protect them from everything...hate to see them hurting.

Im 5 even and i have at least one man in my family shorter than most. Most are under 5'6". These men are chick magnets. Women love them. It aleays amazes me that my uncles arw so popular with the women.

With your son, it wont be his height but his attitude that will keep the the women away. Confidence is key.

The ep of sex and the city was on this morning where samantha dated the really short guy

My AC won't go off probably for another month or two.

Most short men I know, are forces of nature. They don't let it stop them. It actually drives them to excel.

I saw that, but it made me nervous because

1) the ingredients were the same for each other. I dont think that was the case in the store. While some in a line were carmine free, the reds werent

2) carmine has about 6 different names and Im paranoid about missing it.

I need the package in hand with my list of names for carmine

Stupid allergies

I feel terribly for you then. Three months running it is enough for me! I love having fresh air come through open windows.
