<selfish rant>

That person asked me to pick her up again tonight. Again, I JUST WANT TO DRIVE BY MYSELF! I hate being responsible for someone else. I want to be able to hang out and talk to people afterwards if I want to, because I'm an adult, and I can stay out past 9:30 on a "school night." Her, not so much. I want to be able to listen to the music I want to listen to, and talk to myself while I'm driving, or better yet, NOT talk at all!

And now, in addition to driving her there tonight, she just texted me a few minutes ago (we're set to depart in about an hour, btw) and asked if I could drive her over there early so she can watch a football game at a nearby high school. Um, what? I know she's young (13) and therefore doesn't really know any better, but still... Seriously? At 13, I really feel like I had a better sense of what was kind of "over the top" to ask for.

</selfish rant>

Wow.

You were SO wrong yesterday.

You went off the handle because you didn't want to reign it in and listen to me. So I ended up missing during MY SECOND FULL WEEK AT WORK!!! You are such an ass. You were wrong. You had to apologize because I was right.

And today you act up because you are stressed. OK. I understand that you are stressed, but you are taking it out on me. The person who is supposed to be your girlfriend and who you are supposed to love and communicate with. But you aren't communicating when you act like you do. You turn on me at a moment's notice when you are upset. If you want my support, we need to be on the same team. You don't seem to get that point. You think that we are on the same team when you complain about the other people at my work? Dude! I'm at work! I sit at a desk in a cubicle! I don't have my car because you are taking the dog to the vet. I already told you I don't like to sit outside by myself and that there really isn't anywhere around there to sit for lunch. So you have a problem. And that wasn't disrespectful! Everyone talks to loved ones on the phone at work. At their desk. You are nuts if you think talking to you at my desk is disrespecting you.

And the dog needs surgery. Why are we talking about stuff that doesn't matter? Because you want to make a fight to not have to deal with the stress of the dog needing surgery and the fact that you are worthless when it comes to coming up with a solution.

Sell you ipad. Sell your macbook. Do something instead of acting the way you are. You are spending too much time going in circles when you are angry instead of trying to find solutions. And you get so offended when I say that. I know I'm right though, because you start crying in frustration. I do that. I know what you are doing.

Please lets stop this. I can't take it anymore.

And you really better be here when I get off work.

The turkeys are back. I guess our driveway is easier than trooping through the woods.

Oh and this new dog harness is Awesome. No pulling. What a nice walk that was for the first time since Casey was probably a year old.

xcptnl, I've looked at those and would be totally fine spending that if it's what I'm looking for. I'm such a cheapskate and if I can find one that is a bargain I'm all for it, but since it's something I use every single day I'm ok spending more on it as well.

missb, I've tried a bonnet in the past and didn't care for it. I dry upside down to keep my roots from being super flat and straight and the fingers on a diffuser help get up in there and dry it a bit faster. Although I have dreams of getting a sit under dryer like they have at the salon and just reading a magazine while my hair dries.

kk, I hate that you're having dryer drama too, but I'm glad to not be alone.

Y'all are awesome to put up with my ridiculous problems. I think I may have to give up on finding one by Friday, maybe I'll get a little cheap one for the guest bath just to accommodate all our upcoming visitors (all straight hair folks who can use whatever to dry with). What sucks is when we were in CT I *know* I had an extra dryer that I kept in the hall closet as a backup in case mine broke and I was going to put it in the guest bath here and I can NOT find it. I don't remember getting rid of it, but for the life of me I don't recall seeing it since we moved here either.

Ok. I took a video so you could hear but it does not show up as something I can attach here.

X, thank you for taking pictures!!

I'm looking around at them now and there are different models, some more expensive that come with the diffuser and they're all black and there is a white one that's cheaper that doesn't come with the diffuser that's around $130. Anything will probably not be exactly like yours since they've likely changed a little since then.

Ugh, the second episode of Sherlock is so damn uncomfortable to watch. Just so much gross exotic portrayals of Chinese culture. The racism in this episode makes my skin crawl. And the mystery itself is weak as ****, but then, that's essentially the case with every episode of this show.
Seriously, that episode needs to die in a fire.

That was the weakest episode of the series, by far. Even the Irene Adler one was better.

This is such a perfect recap:

And sat there watching it in increasing horror. The plot revolves around a series of deaths that are linked by clues using a Chinese numbering system. This requires Holmes and Watson to go to Chinatown (the one in Soho, naturally) as well as confront a number of sinister Chinese characters, many of them women. There’s a sinister seller of Happy Cats, a robotic but beautiful antiques expert (who manages to get a job in a museum without any apparent training or credentials), and, of course, an Evil But Oddly Sexy Head Villainess.

Had I not been sitting with my mouth agape, I would have retrieved my Chinese Racism Bingo Card. I’m sure I could have won several times over before the episode concluded.

People who drive slow in the left lane should get pulled over and given tickets. It's also the law here that your slow ass needs to move out of the way.

Oh and people who leave these ridiculously large gaps in front of them, blocking the turning lanes. Why is this necessary? What is the freaking point?

Sorry jackholes, but you need to move the eff up and stop backing up traffic. Plus, you're all safety hazards. I'm pretty sure giving these people tickets would encourage them to stop driving like idiots.

*sigh*

R has been proving difficult to work with in many ways; she is often rude to FC and won't take any direction from me, even though she is supposed to and is also to be my backup. she is also trying to scam a free underground parking space here at the courthouse when there is a 6 year waiting list for one and she has been here less than a year.

it is painfully difficult to be here at work right now with all the managers away for a couple of days and the hostilities very open....

I feel your pain.

Our R-ish person is on the other side of the office (about 20 feet away). She has an extremely loud voice. I wish I could turn up a radio to drown out her voice.

I hear a phone ring while I'm on the other side of the office. Then the ringing stops. When I get back to my desk, I see my line blinking. She picked up my phone line and put it on hold without saying anything to the caller. Why? Because she resents having to answer my phone line.

When your boss gets back I think you should speak to him/her. R's behaviour won't improve without the boss getting involved.

As for me, I've given up on going to my supervisor. He speaks out of both sides of his mouth.

Time for my weekly mental breakdown. I swear grad school would turn me into a drinker.

This week it's "I don't feel pretty, look pretty and will never be pretty so I should stop trying." I think it's time to chill out in front of a movie. Yes it is.

No doubt it will do well in the US, as there was no character development or strong narrative to engage the mind, only subliminal advertising for Dan Brown's awful book.
Yes, because all Americans like dumbed down television unlike those highbrow cerebral Brits.

Do I even want to know what this is referring to?

It was in a review of Sherlock from The Guardian. It was about the second episode, where seldom comments mentioned the obvious!racism!, but were typically negative and cynical about the show overall.
