I forget the corresponding numbers, but what's considered "officially" obese, for example, is actually much smaller than most of us would think. That anchor could very well be obese by clinical standards.

BMI should be used with a bucket of salt. Waist measurement is considered more accurate, and just looking at someone. This has no bearing on their health, I just mean a persons overall size.

This interview that the boss set up for me was for a PERMANENT position. Why would he do that? Especially since this is a job that gives me more responsibility, more pay... and it seemed he wanted me back.

I'm confused, and don't know what to say. This was an incredibly unselfish thing to do - to set me up with a job with a different company, that will benefit my career path, knowing I probably wouldn't come back?

And I don't know how to show him how grateful I am that he's giving me this opportunity.

(Thanks guys for putting up with me - I really needed to vent.... y'all know I love you and appreciate your support, right?)
A good boss/mentor will do that. Maybe he knows the odds of you prior job coming back is not good. I had a boss that encouraged me to apply for a job in my company. That was 12 years ago and it was the best move I made. He is no longer with my company

GO NYNAEVE!! YAY!!!

Murrrcat: I KNEW it! I KNEW those Target sports bras felt way too flimsy to be any good! I basically felt the fabric, spun on my heel and walked away, and now I have confirmation that I was right to do so. Thanks for the rec for that 3-Reasons Support Bra, too. Hm, Title Nine has a retail store near where my mother works...I wonder if it would be worth joining her on her commute to try one on.

I recently rented a deep stretch yoga video. You are flat on your back 90% of the time, but you feel it. It was a great video. Several tense spots were worked out on the first try, and I was so relaxed afterward that I melted into the ground.

When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

Yesterday a boy at my school started spewing disgusting, homophobic, violent remarks on Facebook. Our school has jurisdiction over what happens online, so my friend and I did the right thing and went in to the associate principal to talk about it... only to get completely disrespected, dismissed, and almost literally told to cover it up.

I hope they know that we have at least six more people ready to go in and talk to them about it in the next couple of days. I'm just so upset about how this is being handled. They gave him one day of detention for it. One. If you guys could see how absolutely disgusting the things he posted were... ugh. Either way, we're not taking it lying down.

The school I teach at has a "no discrimination" policy they print on everything - yet gay students aren't allowed to bring dates to prom, start an LGBT club, or show affection in the hallways. (now, all students are very limited on what they can "express" in the hallways, but gay students even more so.)
The prom thing makes me angrier than any of it. Most of them end up still go but with friends of the opposite sex. But they can even get pictures together. I don't understand how that kind of thing is legal.

So I do feel your pain, but I also know their are limits on how much they can punish a student for things they post online, or even things that don't happen on campus.

Now if the comments were directed at a specific student, that would be open them up for more options.

Sad that that type of thing web happens. Any chance the homophobic poster is himself gay?

My school is smaller than other public schools in the area but very accepting.

My school is otherwise really good about this kind of stuff. We have a big, strong, active GSA, Diversity week where we have a 45 minute "do unto others" workshop for every person in the school, and GSA Peer Education where we go in to freshman English classes to teach them about different LGBTQ related terms and acceptance of others. (The last one is an opt in program but for the past few years every teacher has done it, which is pretty cool.)

The stuff he wrote wasn't specifically threatening a person, but it was very not okay- stuff like suggesting they find the license plate numbers of gay people to slash their tires. wtf?

I really dislike the phrase "I'm not racist but..." Saying "I'm not racist but I think Obama sux as President" sounds stupid and it's not helpful when trying to make an intelligent argument.

"I'm not racist, but..." is always followed by racism. ALWAYS.

Yay, that's progress and you should feel proud! I'm so glad you're seeing results.

What is this blog name so I can bookmark it immediately and stalk it daily?!

I need to finish Sherlock. I kind of forgot about it.
I did finish Princess Tutu though! Shh, no talking about my staying up till 4 AM to watch the last four episodes. I'm glad Ahiru stopped crushing on Mytho and got lots of moments with Fakir, who was a much hotter piece of ass anyway.
The ending was really beautiful to look at, if bittersweet.

The blog's name right now is danceswithshows.blogspot.com. I've never seen the movie it references, lol. It basically came up in a battery of television- and ranting-related puns. I'm trying to come up with a dance-related tagline for it since now that it's there IDK if I want to bother changing it. Something about following anywhere good writing leads but reserving the right to stomp some toes in the event of failure to be awesome. Or maybe the bad writing is stomping on my toes? If so, I don't think my feet will survive when I inevitably watch something really awful. Anyway, right now it's just an empty little page with blogspot's default formatting, but it has a name!!! Good grief are there a lot of people who blog about TV-related things.

Nah, I've watched it and he's still not easy on the eyes.

And for non-romantic reasons (SMH at Irene Adler's assertion and her whole representation. HATE. I re-named her Marge the Dominatrix to my friend because I refuse to call her Irene Adler, seeing as she has NONE of the necessary character traits.), poor long-suffering Watson. Which is, BTW, what my friend and I pretty much always call him.

I thought I'd want to say more about the episode, but I really just don't want it to exist. I don't know where to start without having all the badness just come and dogpile on. Like, people have moles and asymmetries and things that any non-Sherlock person would notice because people aren't factory-made and WTF Sherlock you are SO MEAN why would you agree with Mycroft at ALL in that moment I do not even understand what your writer even thought was his excuse for that one oh look I've already lost my ability to punctuate I quit this sentence. Can't do it. It is so disappointing seeing so much potential, like in that final scene which would have made an awesome way to repay a favor but was tainted by what it actually was, or even in the little things like two friends giggling about being called into Buckingham Palace, and then see everything get so incredibly stupid. I want my happy fangirl flailing back! Why can't we go back to the first episode, when all you had to do was go "oh hai I got you a Mycroft" and you did that in a cute, clever way instead of a needlessly cruel one?
OMG, LOOK!!

In real news-

W_S, I'm taking your post about therapy and your doing stuff to motivate me. I've been bad and I haven't gone the last two weeks. Things were rough and I could go.... Of course, when its rough is when I should DEFINITELY be going. Ugh. It's too hard. I've been fighting a lot at home and its just so hard. But I'm going to take a page from your book and do some small things. Even if all I do is iron two shirts tonight. I will do something.

Easiest thing would just be to shower and do my hair tonight, but I doubt I will.

I just got back from visiting my father in prison and now....My mother is back in the hospital. It's worse than last time. They told gave me two options, let her die or try the only option they had (which could also kill her). I told them to try and that option they had had complications so they stopped. We are just waiting to see what happens.
