I don't know why, but everything my book has to say about globalization/realism is just totally going over my head right now. I cannot figure out what the answer to this effing question should be. Maybe because I've been compiling answers for my study guide for the past like 5 hours.
Everything sounds the same. I can't even tell the difference between liberalism/realism anymore!
ETA: I hate myself right now! I just looked at my notes on Realism and at the end of them I wrote "realists see globalization as ______________" because I didn't catch what the prof said! OMG. I could've solved all of my problems if I'd just asked him to repeat it! lol

Today I heard a man tell a younger man about why he should vote. And while I get what he was saying, I did not appreciate his whole "you should go live in a third world country to see how good you've got it" speech. Uh, I hope you realize that a big part of the reason many third world countries are ****ed is precisely because of the imperialism perpetrated by first world countries. But also, believe it or not some third world countries actually have more progressive governments than the US in a lot of ways. They're not perfect, obviously, but they're also not as a lot of Americans imagine them to be.

Seriously?! You are a life-saver.
Basically, I'm trying to prepare myself for an essay exam, and this is one of the potential questions that he gave us to study:
"Is globalization a challenge to or confirmation of Realism? In what ways?"
My gut instinct says it's a challenge to it, because of the emphasis that realists put on sovereignty and statism. But I'm having a hard time finding a way to back this up... Maybe because I've been staring at this material for so long today, and it's all starting to jumble together. There's even a whole section in the Realism chapter called "realism and the globalization of world politics"... But from my understanding of it, none of the information from that section necessarily applies to the question!
Maybe I just need to take a break for a little while. Haha

I am glad to know i'm not alone. I enjoyed some new scenes and didn't understand the direction they took with others.
Anyone else having issues with the app tonight? I have to refresh a few times before posts show up.

I would never have imagined it, but commercial fic doesn't surprise me at all. And I'm sure 99.8% of it is smut.

i hadn't posted about this earlier because it's kind of local, but since The New York Times posted an obituary today, i'll mention it here:
one of the most amazing men i ever had the privilege to meet in my life, Lincoln Alexander, the former Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, died this week at the age of 90. he was a member of the old-school Progressive Conservative Party of Canada before they made a sharp right turn, so much more centrist than what Americans would be used to.
along with his late first wife, they were the kindest, most engaging people i met in political life.
my country has lost a truly great Canadian!

Woot!
I shouldn't complain. HLA-B27 related iritis usually lasts for six weeks, and it's only been three. I just feel genetically defective. What did people do for this before meds?
