My friend's boyfriend posted that too and I had a similar reaction to yours. She is always trying to tell me how smart he is, but his fb page regularly makes me question that.

Tell that to various US senators.
IIRC, during the whole health care debate, some people were going to the representatives and senators who were voting against Obamacare, and asking them to pledge to give up their own taxpayer-funded health care coverage. Although they were loudly proclaiming how bad a government-administered health care system wouid be for American, they seemed to like theirs just fine.

On another topic altogether, this is the brutally honest assessment of the GOP, from a lifelong Republican who has spent his life in service to his country, both in uniform and as a diplomat:

Quote:
Colin Powell's former chief of staff condemned the Republican Party on Friday night, telling MSNBC's Ed Schultz, "My party is full of racists."

Retired Army Col. Lawrence Wilkerson made the comment in response to Mitt Romney campaign surrogate John Sununu's suggestion on Thursday that Powell's endorsement of President Barack Obama's re-election was motivated by race. Wilkerson, who served as Powell's chief of staff when the general was secretary of state during the first George W. Bush term, told Schultz that he respected Sununu "as a Republican, as a member of my party," but did not "have any respect for the integrity of the position that [Sununu] seemed to codify."

When asked by Schultz what, if anything, the remark said about the attitudes of the Republican Party, Wilkerson said:
My party, unfortunately, is the bastion of those people -- not all of them, but most of them -- who are still basing their positions on race. Let me just be candid: My party is full of racists, and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as commander-in-chief and president, and everything to do with the color of his skin, and that's despicable.
The retired colonel also said that "to say that Colin Powell would endorse President Obama because of his skin color is like saying Mother Theresa worked for profit."

That is one stream of consciousness right there, wild-sasparilla! This is your brain on insomnia

This has me intrigued.

Can you list a few? I'm always interested in non US/UK artists, preferably in a language other than English. (Yes, I'm the one listening to Pavel Bobek singing Johnny Cash in Czech )

TIA!

Col. Wilkerson has good points. He also comes across as an old school moderate, and the Tea Party skewed GOP has no place for them anymore.

I like that Gangnam Style is social critique.

I asked my crush to have coffee with me last night and he said yes and then I caught him staring at me......my life is ruined.

I've decided that my answers to "how's school going?" will now range from..

"I don't hate it." to
"I'm going to set that place on fire."

I feel rather unsettled right now.

Oh, I freaking NEED electricity!

I really want a Hello Kitty tattoo...
But I'll never do it because I know that I'd end up regretting it later.

I love the Gangnam style videos, especially the original one. The beat, the song, the ridiculous dance. Love it. I also love some of the political 'copies' of it. Fun stuff.

My poor mail man sees me looking my best (at work) and at my most hideous (at home). He's always super nice in either case. Maybe he thinks I have an unfortunate twin.

/\ Jeepy, you could roll around in mud, not shave for a year, wear old clothes and an 'I Love Romney' and still be the most gorgeous person on earth! It is impossible for you to look bad.

Red velvet donut with creme cheese frosting at DD nommmmmmmm

My period has turned me into a monster. Yet I keep fitting better and better into my clothes. Odd. Maybe all these calories was a shock to the system.

I'm eating a bag of licorice as I type this with a glass of chocolate milk

OMG! DID YOU KNOW I CAN LOOK LIKE BROOKLYN DECKER IN HER SWIMSUIT? (whoever that is... a model I guess?)

Oh wait, that was nothing but a tease. It ended up telling me where I could buy her swimsuit, because, you know, I'll never have her body. You're 100% correct, but thanks for driving the point home.

You know what? I think I'm on my period too (first one in 6 years). I had some redvelvet roles yesterday with cream cheese filling...and pizza today!!

I googled it and it's called manyuu hikenchou. It's ecchi anime, so I doubt you've seen it. I read the plot on Wikipedia and it's a WTF-face guarantee.
