how do you increase speed? I feel like my legs are bricks when I try to run any faster than the speed of slow.

study:
Really, I run pretty slow most of the time. I go out and 90% of my runs are between a 10:00 and 10:30 per mile pace. But, I can literally run 20 miles straight at that pace. So when I want to run a shorter race, and I'm well rested to boot, I can go faster.

I mostly just got faster by running more. I run 30 miles a week on average.

The little bit of speedwork I have done is stuff like, intervals where I run quarter or half mile segments at 5k pace, then jog really slow for a few minutes in between. Or else something less structured, where you just run small segments of a normal run at faster paces; like, randomly decide to accelerate and run to a particular tree or phone pole or whatever.

Really, it's just one of those things that comes with experience. As a beginner, most runners only have one gear, so to speak. The more you do it and he more endurance you gain, the more gears you have.

Speaking of criminals - one of my very best friends and neighbor for almost 10 years turned out to be a not so nice criminal. I knew off the bat she was a compulsive liar and probably a psychopath but she was a great neighbor, she pet-sat my many pets and I sat for hers too, we shared stuff from our gardens, had lots of fun, we spent loads of time together (with our then husbands).

Then I moved and we lost touch. And then she burned someone's house
down. And then she burned her own house down. And then she extorted money from some doctor. And then she lured some guy to a remote place and stood by while others beat him to death. Nice.

She was in prison in Ohio for 15+ years and then was moved to a prison here in my county. She is getting out soon. And she's not allowed to move back to her home county just south of us where she still has family. So I'm thinking she might stay in this county. I'm not real keen on that.

No curlies will be left behind. But I have no clue as to where to go.

I belong to a couple private forums on Facebook. It's kind of nice because no one can see it unless they are on the group. And we can use adult language and everything. Well, you can do that anywhere on facebook but it's nice on the private ones because you don't have to worry about your kids or parents or whoever seeing it.

I'm game!

Your neighbor sounds........horrible. It's shocking when someone you know turns out to be a true criminal.....violent or otherwise.
If I look back, I can see signs of intense selfishness in the woman I know, but an actual, "break into the house and steal from a friend" criminal? That stuns me.

Your former neighbor was an accessory to murder. Really, really sick.

Y'all can picture me stomping my foot and pitching a fit "I don't wanna go anywhere!". Call me naive and silly, but I'm hoping they'll listen to our complaints.

I adore all the other aspects of our community here. I'd kick some gravel in the eye of the person who decided these changes were good if I could. Seriously, I know money has to be made, I get that, but an ad over pictures. Oh hell to the no.

Maybe not on FB though... I don't trust ol' Zucky with my info and really value my relative anonymity here. There are free create-a-forum options out there, maybe one of those could work? They look a little janky, but I bet we can get past that.

Moppy, are you 13 years of age or older? That's one of the requirements.

Seriously, though.......how many, if any, of you are interested?
