So guess what??? A few weeks back I bought tickets for my son and I to go see a screening of a skateboarding documentary. Well I found out tonight that Tony Hawk will be there! Tony freaking Hawk! My son is going to freak out! Epic, people. Epic. And after the screening the kids will get to skate with him. Ahhhh. So cool!

TV never seems more false to me than when I see people randomly making connections in NYC-based shows. This does not happen! Outside of really rare, extraordinary circumstances, there just aren't these meet cute situations where two people end up interacting, liking each other and going on dates. It's portrayed as so ****ing common on TV that it's downright galling. You know how many times in all the years I lived in NYC I found myself not only interacting, but hitting it off with some perfect stranger? ZERO! You know how how many people I know who live or lived in NYC who have had such an experience? ALSO ZERO!
The closest I came was dude I saw two or three times on the train and that played the eye contact cat and mouse game. We never spoke, never saw each other again. The end. **** the myriad shows that make it seem like it's the simplest most commonplace occurrence.
I'm not even going to get into how it's mostly in shows starring white women and the rather uncomfortable, curious, somewhat depressing thoughts that leaves me to ponder.
