I NEVER call myself a vegetarian because I am not one (because I eat fish!) however...wow, people are dumb.

I had this exchange once:

Me: I'm not a vegetarian...I eat fish, but I don't eat pork or beef or poultry.

Them: So you're vegan?


WHAT DO THEY THINK VEGAN MEANS?

Saria, I couldnt have your job. i would had bought the the fish to her and said, "see this here? this has a face. this is an animal, if you are vegan, you can not eat this. do you get it now? or are you just too stupid?" then walked away with my big old tuna!

I know a person who always said she's wanted to be a lawyer since she was 4-years-old. She got into law school right after her undergrad work, and would miss class at least once a week, always for things like "My boyfriend's sick and I need to take care of him". It didn't seem like she was taking it very seriously for a lifelong dream.

She just failed the Bar for the fourth time, and has pretty much gone into hiding, deleted her Facebook, isn't taking calls from anybody.

I hate to see anybody like that, but I can't help but remember how lightly she took law school.

Believe me, sometimes the desire to go out to the dining room and slap people is overwhelming.
Like the number of times they ask for something to be cut up for them into small pieces even though they have knives and forks. Or "extra-chopped" salads like they're toothless. Or an order of our roast chicken, but boneless and skinless. Or the orders for something off the lunch menu at dinner time because "that's what [they] feel like eating".

I don't have a recipe, but you could use a typical recipe and adapt the flavorings.
Sweet Potato Pie Recipe | Leite's Culinaria

The idea comes from a dessert at a place I worked that included a vanilla bean sweet potato purée as one of the components.
I would steam or bake whole unpeeled sweet potatoes then scoop out and purée with some vanilla bean, salt, and maple syrup to taste then add some cream and eggs to make the custard. You need a good blender to get it silky smooth since you want to blend just the potatoes without the other ingredients so as not to incorporate air into the custard.
Pour into a baked tart shell (made similarly as the one linked to in that recipe, actually, though with part of the flour switched out for oat flour and less crust overall since you don't need as much for a tart as a pie) and bake until just set.
And no flour in the filling, because flour in baked custards is just uncalled for 99% of the time.

I still can't get over how without fail nobody takes the stairs in this place. It doesn't matter how incredibly crowded and how long the line for the escalator, nobody will take the stairs next to the escalator. People, it freaks me out! I'll be the lone person taking the short flight of stairs instead of forming a line for the escalator. Like WHY MURRRTURTLES, WHY?!
Seriously, what is this strange phenomenon?
