Finer, mixed with coarser strands, low-porosity, wavy curly whirly hair...3A, 2C hair. Medium thickness, medium elasticity.
S-shaped hair with corkscrew ends. My hair is even more confused than me ;p
My hair officially hates protein Once a month is enough!
Currently a fan of TiGi products, (rock on, TiGi Curlesque styling creme!) but that will soon change - I am a self-avowed product junkie! Yay!
BIG fan of supersoaker method - thanks Rudeechick!
Beats me. The Mom said stuff about her children turning in to socialists, etc. she disinvited the brother of my co-worker, too. All on a Facebook wall. Nuts.

I went off the pill last weekend and am having a non-chemically affected period for the first time in years.

I feel insane. My thoughts are disorganized, one of my legs feels weird, and I'm exhausted. This is my own hormones reasserting themselves, right? RIGHT??

I was on the pill for 7 months. It took me almost a year to fully level out. Seriously, it was ridiculous. I hate hormones. I feel much better now.

WHERE IS JOE BIDEN TO COMFORT HIM!?!?!?!?
well... we had a busy day Chez Maman de rouquinne.

not only did mom get to go *out* to her doctor's (more in a moment), but my step-father's caregiver at the nursing home brought him here to visit mom.

he hasn't been here since he went into the nursing home almost 5 years ago. his dementia is quite advanced and he didn't recognize anything in the house, which is something that worried my mom. she thought he would get confused and not want to go back, but the visit went well and mom was pleased to see him.

then my uncle came to get us to take us to the doctor's and he said that my nana was at a conference up at the airport, so mom said they should both come for dinner. my uncle took me to the grocery store to buy everything for dinner and then we took mom to the doctor's and went to pick nana up.

unfortunately, mom could NOT get her staples out - the incision just hasn't healed enough yet. the doctor said to come back Tuesday afternoon, which will be two weeks after the surgery. my sister will be here then and my uncle will come pick them up and take them.

when we came home, i cooked scalloped potatoes, caramellized peppers and pork chops sauteed in Tuscan herbs.

we had a nice visit with nana.

but, i gotta say, mes amies, that i'm pretty darn tired tonight! the nurse practitioner at the doctor's office said i'm doing a very good job looking after mom's 18 staples...

Rou, taking care of someone is a lot of work! Glad your mom is doing well.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

We might go to a craft fair this weekend and it's making me wish I knew who my secret curly was already so I could get my shop on!

Maybe I could just buy an assortment of items (jewelry, what?!) and hope that something would be appropriate and if not keep it for myself. This is a good idea, no?

A view that promotes respect for and understanding of Republican voters who go to the polls and take active steps to restrict the rights of everyone who is not straight, white, and male is much easier to take when you aren’t someone for whom a vote for a ticket like Romney/Ryan is, at best, a total disregard for your autonomy, bodily integrity and personal security, and at worst a deeply personal attack on it. It’s impossible for me, and I think for a lot of people, to even contemplate the idea of common ground with Romney/Ryan voters because the act of making that vote is, to us, a bald-faced and dehumanizing statement of utter disrespect, whether through deliberate intent or through complete ignorance and disregard.

The reason this attitude among liberals is so insidiously dangerous is that in effect it actually CONTINUES the disrespect and dehumanization of women, people of color, LGBT people, etc. by portraying the Republican ideals that disrespect them as disembodied “personal opinions” that deserve respect and tolerance instead of what they actually are: the hateful and dangerous oppression of real human beings. Again, WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS, not intangible intellectual concepts open for debate and disagreement.

Finally, as a side note, I’d point out that the fault for partisan gridlock pretty objectively lies with the Republicans. Us leftists are all too familiar with the fact that Obama is willing to move right and to compromise ideals to get things done, believe me. Republican leadership, on the other hand, sat down in a meeting during Obama’s inauguration and declared that they would obstruct every single thing he tried to do in order to ensure that he would be a one-term president, regardless of whether or not they agreed with it and regardless of whether it was something that the American people needed.

So listen, yes, I respect that President Obama is going to have to work out ways to achieve bipartisanship, although considering the stance of the Republicans on that front thus far I can only wish him the best in that effort. But that doesn’t mean that I have to respect the Republican party or individual Republicans in my personal life or in my political advocacy. I respect those who respect me, and disrespect for me and for countless people that I love is openly and fundamentally enshrined in the Republican party platform. There is really nothing more to say.
THIS!

This is a beautiful smackdown:

romney cares about 100% of americans. oh except for the gays. and the single parents. and the people on welfare. and the students. and hispanics. and women.
LOL you left out the lazy people who take advantage of the system that they don't put in to
no i left them out on purpose. romney definitely cares about huge corporations that pay zero taxes.

03:39 a.m. and I am up doing research.

Kids, don't go to grad school if we you value your free time, sleep, and personal life.
I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.

Hee! I guess if Sokka's wolf tail can talk, so can our ponytails. And daaaang, have I felt like the star of Failure sometimes. Making it into a feature film makes it paradoxically epic: "Gonna go take a nap...LIKE A BOSS."

I did all three loads of laundry I'd been pretending didn't exist yesterday. I declare this legitimately boss-like.
OMG, LOOK!!

...It's a siggie.
