veterans day is for veterans....and some veterans have federal jobs, don't get mad at places for being closed on veterans day, because those places don't have veterans? HOW DO YOU KNOW ARE YOU THE VETERAN POLICE??
I'm with RCC, I love winter! And fall. The second half of the year is my favorite. My only concept of snowy, bitter cold or even unlikely-to-randomly-be-like-summer winters comes from brief visits, but since the places I've been where it gets that cold in winter also try to kill you with face-melting humid heat in the summertime, pretty sure I'd still like the cooler months better. Being cold may not be fun but when it comes to extreme heat, I just can't hang. Also, OMG places where it doesn't generally get cooler at night I CAN'T DO IT, Y'ALL. Well, I can, but I'll feel like I'm dying and want to rip my skin off.

This is brilliant.
(A map reflecting how the states would have gone if only white men had voted)
I only read the title of that article and tried to skim the rest and maybe the comments but I couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't understand people who insist on taking demographics personally, translate "most" to "all" in their heads and set out to "prove" that there are "some good white people" or whatever. Same with male and Christian privilege. Seriously? Nobody said otherwise. Please stop these explicit attempts to get brownie points for acting like decent human beings. And I am so beyond tired of that "we all face discrimination" crap. People getting bitter about how much better you have it are not somehow oppressing you.
I also do not understand my father's brain. He mansplained to me yesterday that women had it better in the '50s because they "didn't have to work." I laid out all the ways that this was wrong and instead of acknowledging childcare, housekeeping, cooking, etc. as work, he latched onto my reminder that the majority of women did actually have to work. He said that they did that to gain status for their families, shooting down my response that that was never the most common motive for women working - you see, nobody should count the lower classes when making sweeping generalizations. He then got to his hopelessly blunt and lopsided point about how women going to work to get more money for their families to buy things caused inflation and got us to the point where both members of a couple generally have to work. Also note that this entire outpouring of fact-hating condescension was inflicted upon me despite constant protest that I really, really, really did not want to talk about this.
He also recently told me that I was getting swept up in emotional issues rather than real, important stuff because I cared about, for instance, the constant flow of "legitimate rape"-type comments oozing from members of the GOP. Thanks, Dad. I feel so loved knowing that you don't give a s*** about what would happen to me if I were raped. It makes me even angrier that he thinks of racism, sexism, homophobia and religious intolerance as just that silly emotional stuff to distract from "real" issues while he is still a Jew. News flash, Dad: you could become a billionaire tomorrow and even cutting out the nouveau riche factor, people like Romney would still feel that their country club had lowered itself by letting you in. It needs to bother you more that he and others get away with equating not being allowed to force us to say their prayers in school with somehow not being allowed to say theirs. A helluva lot of things need to get through to your "not okay" sensors, but they clearly never will. And FFS, stop acting like Romney's some great, upstanding guy who got forced into a bad position by his big bad party. He chose to say all that stuff to get himself power. He is an ambitious psychopath with an incorrigible smarm-face, and he didn't have an amazing platform before. Get off his dick, he would look down his nose at you regardless. Thank goodness you at least vote Democrat.
I want to punch people who say things like "Girls marry their fathers." Marriage can kiss my ass if that's true. It's one thing to love my dad despite his asshattery but quite another to consider binding myself to someone like this romantically. Seriously, F***. THAT.
LOL! Well, my brain admits that frosting is unnecessary extra sugar. My taste buds, however, are generally into it, at least for the first few bites. Don't count on my taste buds to have any standards whatsoever, because I'm totally that kid you never knew about who sat just off-camera in that "Hey, Mikey!" Life cereal commercial and was the back-up plan in case Mikey didn't like the cereal. If a food is unlikely to cause me physical harm, unless it's spearmint flavored, I'm going to eat it and most likely enjoy it. I can assess that things have too much sugar, not enough salt, etc. but my overall response will still be "like." Everyone really got thrown for a loop when I started having this esophagus issue because all of a sudden "this is a food" was not my only criterion for whether I would eat something.
Whee, I got an A+! Thank you! This is a wonderful choice of compliments for an over-achieving nerd.
I put broth and beans in a crock pot chicken, and collards. cooked it all day, came back from class put rice in and ALL THE WATER IS EVAPORATED BUT THE RICE ISN'T COOKED. Theres no more room in my crock pot.
Now I'm forced to eat a delicious salad for dinner.
Btw, rice pudding is AMAZE-LABIA.
It's soo delicious. I mean I bought the store kind because I obviously cannot make anything. And it is quite addictive.
