In spite of the horrible state of my skin, this is the first time in a week or so I haven't felt like crawling into a hole in the ground rather than show my face, all due to finally getting time to style my hair (I had to put it under the bandanna for work while still quite wet, so it doesn't look fantastic, but at least it's clean and soft).

I find it funny how conservative members here go on about how they feel hesitant to post their opinions on this liberal-dominated board, yet they go poking at the proverbial wasps' nest the moment they think they've got even a trace of hope of "liberal" screw-up.

Speaking of hair, I'm literally down to one wash's worth of WSHP and the Curls by Sisters Smith site has completely disappeared. I'm getting a teensy bit nervous about what I'm going to replace it with. Curl Junkie works, but it's much more expensive.
I might get some Knot Today to see how it does and because I can pick some up at Ricky's or Whole Foods.

I love this! It reminds me of what one of the vlogbrothers, Hank Green, said at some point about nerds being the people who allow themselves to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Except it's even more awesome!
Now food threads officially no longer work as Saria-bait. Curlies, take note! You'll have to summon her by name! Not too hard to remember since half the site comes running when they don't know how to cut or cook something, anyway.
I'm going to be making deliberate and inadvertent Buffy references until the end of time. Some of them aren't even fair, because they're just things I would say even before I had ever thought of watching it. Cultural osmosis?

for about the first 5 years of this board's existence, it was dominated by right-wing uber-christians. there were many vile things posted here all "in christ's love", so it was supposed to be okay.
there used to be a chat feature for a while, and you could pop in there finding them literally plotting about who they were going to go after next. it would have been funny if it hadn't been so pathetic.

It is, and that is a common when the call sincerely isn't an emergency or is matter that officers can't do anything about, period. I think dispatchers tend to get the brunt of that because I hear, "they were nice to me" from the officers. People are very brave on the first phone call.
Some silly (non emergency) calls do give you a good chuckle, later on, when you think about it. Some are a bit of comic relief after an actual emergency. It's funny how many blogs, sites, and video's there are reenacting these 'out there' calls. They can be entertaining.

BUT... With that said, something has to change. For instance, that woman's blog was from 2007. The number of non emergency calls coming in on emergency lines has grown to an astounding number. You've heard me fuss about that before. That is in cities and smaller areas. There is not one type of call that she mentioned that every 911 center has not had not had (or a variation of) repeatedly. That is a true problem, and many times the number of calls coming in are too great to charge everyone with misuse. I know states are starting to slap mandatory charges (and that is charges as in fine) on people for pocket dials now because they are making up 40% of the call volume in some states. At some point they need to make it more convenient and mandatory for other (criminal) charges to be taken out. It scares me when I have almost every line lighting up with bull crap calls. It is dangerous. That can cause actual emergencies to go unanswered, or be re routed to other areas, delaying in response times. I don't want a heart attack to go unanswered because a stray dog got into someones trash or their power went out, etc.
**perhaps they should start shaming people and making them stand on the side of the road with a sign. "I called 911, rather than the power company, 6 times, because my power went out." That seems to be all the rage now. lol. But l am personally not a fan public shaming or the giving out of identifying information of people. It is a matter of public record/information but still...

Another night of very little sleep due to it being freezing in here. The only time I've known of heating being on is during the day, and only because I can hear the radiator in my room, not because of feeling any actual heat. And no wonder I couldn't sleep. It's 28 degrees for the low, high of 46!

I have had some interesting telephone conversations today. Some of my favorite subjects or things said,
"Don't you know Big Foots are inter-dimensional beings?"
"Oh, issues. Bleep all their issues. I just want to ----!"
"Did you hear about the monkeys that demolished a village because one person threw a coconut at them? They all threw coconuts back and busted put windows, damaged roofs, etc. It was the coolest thing ever!"
"Next time you talk to (so & so) ask them is their ex (name here) is insane, because I think he is insane, and he keeps trying to hit me up."
It's been a interesting morning.

I hate that. I can not sleep well in a cold house. I have heard some people mention electric throw blankets recently. They are a little less expensive than the actual blankets, and considering that they do not last very long, that might be a better option. You could at least get some rest.

Apparently turning the heat way down is a thing? I've come across a lot of people who do this, and when I got a new thermostat installed, with the option of programming different temps at different hours, the suggested settings always had the night time temps a lot lower than daytime. WTF people? How is it okay to get frost bite in your sleep.

I'm mean. I'm actually for public shaming if the person is a jerkwad as opposed to mentally ill.
A person on hellothereracists was fired for his racist Tweets. The guy was mad because he was fired 'because people think I'm racist'. No, jerkwad, you were fired because your posted FB statuses and Tweets that called for assassinating the President, and your workplace is listed on your FB. People don't think you're racist, they know you are. Welcome to the modern era.

Yep. You call for assassination or make death or serious assault threats, you need to be fired and secret serviced up one side and down the other.
I did see a story about a woman who drove on the sidewalk, around a stopped school bus that was *sorry, picking children up*, to get her daughter to school faster. What a dumb and dangerous thing to do! She had to stand on the street with a sign. Idk, it all depends on the situation to me.
