Heh, my parents keep it pretty chilly in our house at night! 63, to be exact.
I'm always cold to begin with (I always station myself right in front of space heaters, when possible), but for some reason, I prefer it when it's cold at night. I don't know why. I just love to crawl under my piles of blankets and get all cozy. I sleep in socks and long pants and a t-shirt. I've never woken up in the middle of the night freezing cold, unless my blankets were all on the floor. I have, however, woken up sweating... I'd much rather be too cold!

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

Whoever decided that we should offer BOGO holiday drinks this weekend is a HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PERSON.
When people are getting something for free, they turn into whiny, bratty children. Y'all are grown adults! Calm down, put on your big boy/girl pants, and speak to me like the human that I am. Ok?
Actually, I have to make your drink for you whether you follow these instructions or not. But still, it'd be nice.
ETA: Also, I don't make the rules. Which means I can't bend or break them just for you. 'Kay?
Um, in other news... Today, I overflowed a coffee airpot. I didn't realize someone had already brewed a pot in there... So. The coffee went EVERYWHERE. Under the coffee brewer, in a drawer, under said drawer... And it all happened 5 minutes before I had to leave. Which means I was attempting to clean up scalding hot coffee with paper towels in a quick and orderly manner. Didn't work out so well. My skin is still a little stained.

Awe, SCG that stinks. I always try to be so patient with people when I'm ordering something or checking out and at Starbucks in Target last week the woman in front of me was SO incredibly nasty with the barista. The woman made such an ass of herself over absolutely nothing.

I don't know why thinking about boiled peanuts led to thinking about Taiwanese grilled corn and now I want Taiwanese style grilled corn. Imma have to buy some soybean paste and go at the corn we have at work.

One of my favorite blogs has a hate-on for Cassandra Clare, citing bad writing, but turns out it's deeper than that, based on this post which she reblogged:
An American in Britain
Wow. Now I see why she refuses to hear anything about the upcoming movie.

what a wonderful, generous thing to do. I wish I could do more from here in Ca. My family is originally from Brooklyn, my aunt lives in Rockaway, Queens, which was so devastated by flood and fire. Again' thank you.

house temperature is a constant debate here. I hate the cold, DH hates the warm. We rarely need the AC here in SoCial, which is a relief to me, and we used the heat for the first time this fall just a few days ago, and that was to warm it up first thing in the morning. (house was 60 degrees!)
but I agree that cooler is better at night. I don't mind using multiple blankets and I think I sleep better in the cooler temps. I also agree with the no socks at night thing. I just cannot sleep in them. Interestingly, DH does wear sock at night, all year long. He once read or heard that people who sleep in socks live longer. I don't know how though, if they can't get any sleep!

I was stalking Rose Mcgowan, who I found out was child hood friends with kenneth pinyan....who died from having sex with a horse. So I read the story about how he died from having sex with a horse. lawds of lawds. At least there was no images. What is this world I live in.

I just googled. That was so much worse than I assumed. How do you get a horse to do that to a person?
I kind of hate you right now.

the house i have wanted to own for the past 40 years since i first laid eyes on it is for sale!
my sister told me that she went shopping downtown yesterday because mom is well enough to not need constant tending and there's a For-Sale sign on the lawn.
on Lakeshore Boulevard West, all the way around Humber Bay going toward the part of the city my family has always lived in, there is one row of houses that can only be called mansions. they all date to the late 1800s/early 1900s. the biggest one was bought by the Polish government after the communists were routed and it became their consulate in Toronto.
i briefly worked at a summer job with a young man who lived in one of those houses (about 30 years ago); it had belonged to his great-grandparents. he was acting as a care-taker because his grandfather was in a nursing home. years later, the house was abandoned and fell into disrepair. maybe it really was haunted, like my former co-worker said. it was sold a few years ago and torn down for a monster house.
right next door to that house is a smaller red brick one with a gorgeous conservatory on one side. i remember going past that house for years seeing tall palm fronds scraping the glass ceiling of that conservatory. the house backs on to the lake and has an unobstructed view across the bay to the city. there is a perfect view of every major fireworks show.
at some point in the past 10 years, this house, too, was abandoned.
and now it's for sale - for
$2,388,000
and i'd be willing to be that whoever buys it, will tear it down and put up a monster house.
even if my office pool won the lottery on Friday night, my share wouldn't be enough money for me to buy and restore the house.
*sigh*

I was reading the location, Rou, and thinking I need to get into the court system if she is buying down there!
I wonder if it's old enough to be placked?
