Awww, don't panic. Presents are not what Christmas is about. The stress and panic of buying the right present is what takes the joy from it. I don't buy until almost right before Christmas. I go shopping on the off hours when the stores are not overloaded with people. Either early in the morning (not 4am) or late at night (not 12am) or shop online and have everything delivered to the door. Take a deep breath, go and treat yourself to a coffee and doughnut, and make a list of things you want to buy. Separate it into things you can buy locally and online. See? You've got it half way done! Then decide what you can buy now or wait until next month.
SIB I am right there with you.

And Speckla, your advice here is very wise. I try to do the same as much as I can to ease the stress of it all.

This line is completely ridiculous to begin with (and it's been like this all day since I've walked past it at various times today), but it's especially ridiculous considering that the pizza is just slightly above average in quality.

Sooo...I told hubs about a coworker who just found out her BF has been cheating on her. He said he doesn't feel bad for her. When I asked why, he said it was because she posted about it on FB. Still don't know how that's relevant.

Went to the coffee shop on campus (which I always frequent) with my crush today. The cashier looks at us and goes, "you too look alike." His response to which was, "she's my sister." The cashier goes, " no, she's not. It's more than that." Earth, swallow me now.

I interject at this point that "it's not." She asks why, and again, I say, "just because it's not."

She responded that she would pray on it. If only I believed.

This wasabi rice crackers are burning my mouth.

it's 0/32F right now and we're under a snow squall advisory....

I got a chill just reading that!

We were getting the Christmas decorations down and I spotted the space heaters we keep stored and I told Mr. Spring how glad I was that we didn't need those here. I absolutely do NOT miss the miserable cold of the poorly built house we lived in in CT. There just was no getting warm during the winter in that place. Want to borrow my space heater? I'd gladly share, it's a pretty good one.

oh, springy, how sweet of you!

i have two space heaters; neither of which i actually need since i moved into my house 4 years ago. this place is quite well insulated and i keep the thermostat set at 22C/72F when i'm home in the winter.

and even with that, since my gas bill is on equal billing, i usually end up with two free months over the summer!

You've got me wondering what our bill would change to if I put ours on 72. I got so conditioned to leaving it low and freezing when we lived in CT I find myself hesitating to touch it even if I'm cold here. We do have a gas fireplace that's nice to turn on in the evenings when we're hanging out in the living room and get chilly, so that helps. Thankfully this house is pretty well insulated and we're nice and comfortable here. I absolutely do not miss paying $600+ for heating oil in CT and still shivering.

One thing for sure is that living there made me fully appreciate a nice toasty house.

Work had a legit Thanksgiving dinner in the break room today! Except, chicken instead of turkey. Um, fine by me! Free food is free food... And it was delish.

My store is a pretty nice place to work sometimes.

They're giving us food tomorrow, too! Don't know what yet, but again... Free food is free food!

Rant I think.

I agree Christmas is not about gifts. That s why my whole "Christmas' Eve family" (my parents, old aunts and uncles, siblings and their families, SO, etc) agreed a few years ago, to stop giving presents in Christmas. Except for the kids. This has had to be, the best decision we ve ever made.

But I still have to buy gifts for my horrible boss, his wife, the CEO of the company I work for, another boss, and several friends....

And also for some very nice people that had been very helpful to me this year. I WANT to say thank you to them and give lots of gifts to them, JUST not now.

I don t want to feel this selfish, I just want to take the stress out of these Holidays.

Sorry, end of rant

maria, don't be sorry for a rant. The holidays can be so stressful, so any conversation is welcome here, be it a rant or a rave.
