I had a "stuffy" ear in addition to an ear ache.

I had been checked by every specialist you can imagine. I don't want anyone to think I just pooh-poohed what my doctors were telling me. I had x-rays, a CAT scan, saw my GP, 2 eye doctors, an ear doctor, two dentists, and finally a neurologist. I was given a clean bill of health on all points. My symptoms do not fit migranes, so they were all "stumped" as to what was wrong with me.

I say "stumped" because a with little perseverance on my end, and a $13 book about Trigger Points and how to massage them, I managed to relieve every last symptom I had... I feel like I was being jerked around to keep the cash flow going.

So, as of right now, I don't need meds or regular doctor appointments. I'm a believer in the healing powers of massage.

Massaging knotted muscles hurts like a #*@&%, but it gets less and less painful every day, and is worth it in the end.
RB, your post gives me hope and you have no idea how wonderful that is. My ear has been stopped up (my ENT says the flap in there that opens/closes to equalize pressure is stuck closed so when we go up in higher elevations my pressure never equalizes and it's so painful. I've had this constant stopped up feeling in my right ear for over 6 months now.) for so long and I've tried so many different medications that I've been trying to accept the fact that it will never unstop. Now I'm hopeful that this will help so I'll keep my fingers crossed and thank you so much for sharing your experience with this! And kudos to you for not giving up and finding something that worked!! I'll be starting my heat, massage, cold, repeat regime today so we'll see how it goes. If my ear ever loses this stopped up feeling I swear to mercy I'm going to go dance naked in the damn street.

A friend of mine posted about another big earthquake in Japan and asked people to pray for the Japanese. Of course, someone has to comment/pray that they convert to Christianity too.

A natural disaster is not a time for proselytising.....

I need to stop reading that thread lest my faith in humanity plummet any further.

I'm rooting for you! The solution is (literally) at your fingertips!

Keep me updated on your progress!

p.s. I felt major relief within a week of daily massages, and complete absence of all symptoms within two weeks. I just massage for a few minutes before I go to bed now to keep symptoms at bay.

RB, thanks so much! My next question to you was going to be a time frame that you noticed a difference, so thanks for that information. I did it in the shower today (that really shouldn't sound so naughty, really..) which was easy, but getting into the habit of doing the heat/massage/cold thing the PT wants me to do 3 times a day is going to take a little time to get into the habit of.

I looked her straight in the eye and said: I don't want to be with you. I'm done.

Are we still together? Yep. I tried. I laid down. Then she kept asking if I was serious. That things would be different.

Ask me if they are different this morning.

Has our resident troll made her regular reappearance? Yes, I think so.

I'm a grinch. Or a Scrooge. Or something. I just don't see the appeal of Christmas trees. Why should I cut down a perfectly good, oxygen-making, habitat-creating, living tree? And for those who implore me to "just get a fake one then, you tree-hugger," answer me this: do fake trees not just use up resources (plastic, fuel, etc.) that could be better used elsewhere? And why on earth would I want to go through the trouble of assembling a pretend tree? I have real trees outside where they belong! BAH HUMBUG. Whew. I feel better now.

PS - my MIL gave each of her children tiny little fake trees when they were kids and I have agreed to put DH's up. It looks silly, but I think it makes him happy. I just refuse to do the whole enormous tree thing.
