I promised my mom that I'd finally clean my room today... Ughhhhhhhh.

I don't even know where to start. SO I think I'll sit here on the computer for a little while longer.

I just pulled out the grossest hair ball, of which none of the hair was mine. You see, I hadn't even washed my hair in this apartment until I bought a drain screen because clogged drains are no fun. So, I know that's not my hair!

I need to re read The Hobbit and LOTR. I read them all in 4th grade after telling my teacher that her required reading for us was bor-ing. I was an advanced reader in Kindergarten so everything seemed a little too see spot run for years. This pissed her off, she was a Tolkien fan, had the books in her desk, and threw TH at me. She thought I would put it down in a few min. No such luck! I asked for more. The hateful B obliged.

I always look at books and films as separate animals. That way I am not disappointed. It is harder to convey everything on screen, and liberties are taken. I loved LOTR, with a passion.

*Added reflection: The reading level situation in my school always pissed me off. You had AG classes, and everyone else. Math was my epic downfall so I could not be considered for AG. I do remember them separating the advanced readers in 2nd grade. We sat at a table in front of the class and everyone shot spit balls at us. That was the end of further division. At least I had the summer book club.

I can not stop sneezing today and my eyes are watering like crazy. On. My. Last. Nerve.

I slept on damp hair last night and it dried looking odd indeed. So I put it in pigtails this morning and then left to run errands.

Oh, the glances; the baffled, puzzled glances.

I just received a Christmas gift from my mother...

It made me cry my little eyes out.

My parents have had a rough year financially, physically, and emotionally.

My mom wrote me a 3 page letter about how embarrassed she is that she couldn't afford to buy me a gift. So, she decided to pass along a family heirloom to me. It is a sterling silver cheese spreader from Tiffany's. Her favorite aunt gifted it to her about 35 years ago at her first wedding.

I know the pain in my mother's heart and how difficult it was for her to not be able to lavish her family with gifts this year. But honestly, this is the most beautiful, precious, thoughtful gift I've ever received! I am honored and humbled to be the recipient of such a treasured item. It means a million times more to me than any odd item that can be purchased in the mall.

I miss my family so much!! This will be my 3rd Christmas spent with my in-laws. While I love them very much as well, it's just not the same, you know?

I have a heavy heart this holiday season.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
I probably should have cushioned what I said, because you are upset, but I felt like you honestly needed to hear it. You have to know that it is hard for me to understand how working 25-30 hours a week is some unfathomable task. I sometimes pull 72 in a week. It is also hard for me to understand why you choose to work those hours, barely have enough money to scrape by, and then spend it on anything but your bills. This is causing you to be stressed out. It's not life, it's you. I love you so much, you are so smart, and you can do better. I know you can. Quit saying giving up is easier. Giving up is what you normally do, and as you know, it makes things much harder than they have to be.

Possibly the only person on the planet not at all interested in seeing The Hobbit.

Perked up and considered seeing it if only to watch yummy Richard Armitage...

Discovered he's a dwarf and not at all attractively presented in it and lost all interest again.

Hey, Jeepy, I thought of you today when I bought a cool green paring knife.....and then again when I found the plastic handle chomped to bits by Mia-Mimi in a rare outbreak of badness (I fixed it with pink Hello Kitty tape).

Hee. There is a Roseanne maraton on (don't hate) and I totally forgot JGL played "George" DJ's annoying friend. He is so itty bitty here.

Did someone say JGL?

I ain't thirsty. There's plenty of fish in the sea, but I don't want all of them, can I have some standards? Or do we just have to settle, for someone's who meh and will do.

I mean, these are people who based on their reactions had never read The Hobbit either so it's not like they're fans of the book.

I loved The Hobbit when I read it. I can't remember how many times I attempted to read LOTR and failed. I'm a compulsive reader, so it bothered me that I couldn't finish it. I intentionally haven't re-read The Hobbit recently because I want to go see it without being upset at how much is/isn't covered.

My impression was basically "Then there was a tree. It was large, with brown bark and green leaves. The leaves were shaped a little like Dinglord Dallio's blade on his sword. Next to the tree was an even larger tree with yellowing leaves in a dagger-like shape. Next to that tree was a young one, not yet showing the sag of age. It was next to the opening of a cave..." Except all that with flowery language.

My impression of the LOTR movies was "Oooh, pretty scenery..." and I loved them.

But at least the pews never attend yoga!
I tried reading them and forced myself up to three (which I still haven't bought).

I was thinking about what to get my goddaughter and thought of buying them, then I remembered that I barely got through them and wondered why I would subject the poor child to such torture.

I think I'm getting her Harry Potter instead.

If the tickets for The Hobbit weren't so expensive I would see it again.

I just remembered my dreams. I was being chased by that *thingy* from Jeepers Creepers. At one point I was in the floor of my car, with a blanket over me, praying it didn't smell me. I fled on a snow mobile. My dreams also involved Dan Aykroyd in a tunnel, and the weirdest novelty shop/thrift store in the world.

Cold medication + alcohol = lightweight Laura.

Also I felt old when I was out, the place was full of 18 and 19 year olds.

And I had a rans drunken conversation with the taxi driver.

I always liked The Hobbit but I LOVEEEEE the LOTR trilogy and have probably read them once a year for more years than most of you have been alive.
When I'm cremated I want them to be cremated with me so I can keep reading them. : )
