I admit that I am no expert on genetics, so I am open to anyone correcting me. My understanding is that blue eyes are recessive and if both parents have blue eyes, the children will always have blue. If both parents have brown eyes, they could have a brown gene and a blue gene and the kids could end up with either. I'm not sure how green fits in. I have brown and my husband has blue, and one of our kids has green and the other has brown.

Before DNA testing was common, I believe they tested paternity with blood types. I have A+, and my husband has B+, and I've joked to him before that that is the one combination for which our children could have anything. So that blood test would be totally inconclusive.

What about different kinds of blue eyes? I have more aqua-blue eyes with a strong darker blue ring around the outside of the iris and DH has blue eyes with a golden ring around the pupil. It's looking like the babe has eyes more like mine, but I do wonder if he'll get those golden flecks.

Ok, I finally finished book 2 of the Bartimaeus trilogy (it took so long because that book seriously dragged and it was hard to get interested again when I put it down weeks ago). Anywho, Nathaniel is a sodding idiot who can't put two and two together even when it's smacking him right in the face. Really, after all that and you couldn't figure out who was pulling Duvall's strings?! I can't wait until this arrogant twit finally gets his comeuppance.

I really like this guy, and he's a total catch, and has done things like invite me as his guest to his best friend's wedding...but...

He was left at the altar (literally! I didn't think that happened outside of movies!) less than two years ago.

He definitely has some issues from it. Understandably so.

My best guy friend said he's just not ready after hearing all the details...that it has nothing to do with me...that it all has to do with the fact that this guy got LEFT AT THE ALTAR by a woman he was with for eight years.

Ugh.

Now you’ve got me wondering.

My parents both have/had blue eyes. My mom’s are a paler blue, my dad’s were a very bright blue. We all got my dad’s bright blue eyes.

Were the blue eyes on my dad’s side more dominant? How does that work, I wonder?

Two brown eyed parents can have a blue eyed kid. That's pretty common.

Two blue eyed parents will rarely have a brown eyed child. It can happen, though.

A woman I used to work with, her house caught fire because she left the dryer going while she was out. Her brother worked for the fire dept. and called to let her know there was a call to her address. She lost every pair of jeans her family owned because they were all in there at the same time. Thankfully it didn't completely burn the house down, but the smoke and water damage was massive.

So yeah, that scared the isht out of me.

When we lived on base in SC I started the dishwasher right before we left the house. After getting out to the car I realized I forgot something and went back in and there was water all over the floor, can't imagine if I hadn't gone back in the damage it would have done to our apt and the folks downstairs.
