in the past, I have left the crock pot running while out, but I don't like to, and haven't done so in a very long time. I never leave the house with the dryer or dishwasher running.
A few years ago, a house just up the street from my daughter's school burned down. It happened to be owned by one of the teachers, so we all heard the full story. Her nephew, who went to college nearby, stopped in to do his laundry, and left a load running in the dryer while he went back to class. They lost the entire house. All she had time for was to run in, let out the dog and grab some photo albums. Her children were still in the school at that time. Can you imagine looking from your school playground and seeing your house burning down, or later the shell of what was left?

It is weird. I was going to add that only my mom's kids have colored eyes (I'm guessing it's because my dad has blue) but then I remembered that my uncle who has almost black eyes they are so dark has a daughter with blue eyes.
Hmmm... I think I'm going to call my mom and chat with her about this.

I always assumed that if two blue eyed parents have a brown eyed child, it's either a freak mutation, or someone isn't being completely honest.
I'm not a genetics expert though, I tend to stay to chemistry where I belong. LOL

Aren't dryers known to be fire hazards, though? I wouldn't leave a dryer running either, for that reason.
Statistically a crock pot set to “low” without anything flammable nearby is a much safer bet, I’m guessing.
Those of you who don't leave a crock pot on, do you turn off your water heater and furnace when you leave the house too?

Genetics are totally cray. Late hubby had dark brown hair and almost black/brown eyes. I have almost black hair, olive skin, and brown/hazel green eyes. DD is pale with blonde hair and bright blue eyes. DS is very olive with brown hair and dark brown eyes. They don't even look like siblings sometimes.
When I was pregnant with DD we talked about how we would never have a kid with blonde hair or blue eyes. Boy were we surprised. When pregnant with DS I knew he would be dark and they would look nothing alike. Ha! I was right.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

I just can not get over it! are you kidding me? These are grown adult women! why the effe cant they use the bathroom properly? just to get an idea of how bad the bathroom must have been (i never use that bathroom because those women are nasty and i have seen it look like they were figure painting in there, just nasty) if our boss had to send out an email!
"...The current situationis dangerously unhygienic. If these incidents are the result not ofillness, but of something more purposeful, be aware that this is unacceptableand offensive. Disciplinary action may be appropriate if thiscontinues. It is important to keep this common area as safe and sanitaryas possible. Furthermore, the current situation conveys disrespect towardfellow employees...."
what kind of illness would result in a grown woman or women to do something to cause the bathroom to have to be closed off?
